Of all the suburbs of Dubrovnik, Mlini, which connects with Srebreno and Kupari, is definitely the best. A long promenade by the sea and pebble beaches with pine trees attract tourists and locals. In the center of Srebreno there's a large shopping center, with is very necessary, unlike other places that do not have a small grocery store. And what is very important is also that it's best connected with Dubrovnik. A regular bus line departs frequently. And then there is the ferry boat from the port of Mlini, which comes directly to the port of Old Town Dubrovnik. We also used Uber. We were looking for an apartment that would be close to all of the above. So we chose accommodation in Villa Avantgarde and we were very pleased. Our apartment in the villa was new, clean, compact and had everything you need for a holiday. We like large size of the fridge and the selection of dishes. Mattresses and pillows are new and comfortable. Towels have been changed several times also with apartment cleaning. Breakfast included was an important item for us when choosing accommodation. Given the low price of the apartment we didn't expect anything special, but we were offered a very solid and full breakfast. As it was already October and the Corona virus situation at breakfast there were not many people and all epidemiological measures were respected. The weather was nice, so we spent a lot of time on the beach and the pool of the villa. Communication with Luke was quick and warm. Really enjoyed the experience!

We stayed here last summer for a week, some time during the July, it was ok to travel to Croatia. Covid guidelines certainly affected the possibilities we could have had maybe a summer before. On the other hand, there was no rush, not a lot of people, they said maybe 20% of the numbers before. It was relaxed to explore the town, very quiet, while all of the other perks stayed the same - perfect sea, sun, terraces near the beach, slow boats riding around and god wine all over the place. Very keen on that, at the villa we had the pool just for us, brought drinks and food to the pool. The host was very polite, we made BBQ near the pool, during the day we were on the beach, during the night on the pool. Shops were open, while most of the restaurants were closed. The kitchen in our apartment made use for our dinners, had them on the terrace. Couple of days, we managed to wake up for breakfast, which ends by 10 AM, this could change to 11 AM, if the owner listens to me, next year we come back if the breakfast goes till 11 AM, at least :)

We stayed at Villa Avantgarde for seven nights. The booking procedure was simple and straightforward and the proprietor, Luke, was very good at communication in the run up to our flight. The apartments are good value on a budget. Luke arranged to collect us from the airport and shuttle us back to the apartments. He also dropped us off at the end of our holiday. On arrival, we were given the choice of four suites, we chose a connected suite with one room for the kids and one for us. The rooms are simply but tastefully decorated, and we had a kitchenette in our room, which meant that we could enjoy dinners on the balcony on the nights we didn't want to go out. The swimming pool is small, but clean and has a nice seating area and a wood-fired barbeque oven, should you wish to cook al fresco. The kids loved the swimming pool. The staff were very polite, although , apart from Luke, had limited English. Breakfasts were adequate: eggs, cold meat, cheese, breads, cereal, juice and coffee. The apartments are located about 10-15 minutes walk from Mlini beach, which is lovely, clean and safe. Buses will take you on the hour to Dubrovnik city, which is about 20-25 minutes drive away. There are restaurants and a supermarket locally, all within a 10-minute walk. I would recommend Villa Avantgarde, and should we visit Dubrovnik again, we will stay there.

We were staying at this hotel in October 2019 for 15 nights so I can say that I have the latest information about this hotel. The hotel is not large, it has about 20 accommodation units. It is not a real hotel with an imposing entrance, a large reception desk and a lobby. It is not a company with a lot of employees in uniform. This is a private house with rooms run by one family with the help of cleaners. Calculating this I am surprised at the high level and service this facility has. The level of cleanliness, breakfast service, housekeeping, changing towels every 3 days or on request were like in a real hotel. Our room was simple but clean, bright, nice and newly decorated. The mattresses and pillows were new and comfortable. The internet and air conditioning worked great. We also had a balcony overlooking the greenery. We didn’t have a kitchen in our dbl room. When we booked accommodation, we chose between a double room or a studio apartment with a kitchen, so in the end we chose a standard dbl room. We had wine glasses and a corkscrew in the room, we didn’t have a kettle. It was not a problem for us because we were more for refreshing drinks than for hot ones. There was a big fridge in the hallway where we were allowed to keep food so we chilled our white wine there. I think that if you need something extra in the room like a kettle, iron, extra pillows or similar, there is no problem to ask, I believe that they will kindly bring it to you. Better to ask than to regret anything later. We didn’t look for any flaws, but we didn’t notice any stains or damage even counting that at the end of the season they definitely have to be. I believe that even if we found any flaw, we would not deal with it, but continue to enjoy our vacation. If something goes wrong in our room there is always the audacity to ask to move to another room. Breakfast was great! There was plenty of food and they were everything a man usually eats for breakfast. Ok, there can always be more types of cakes, fruits or juices. But it was enought so we were full until dinner. Food served a little cramped behind a small square footage of space. I believe that if the food were distributed to more tables, everything would look much more appealing. As we were in October we did not notice the crowd at breakfast, otherwise we come to late. There are several tables on the terrace and opposite the entrance so there are enough tables. The ladies at breakfast were kind and knew how to say things about breakfast. At the entrance to the building there is a glass small house with a roof that represents the reception. When we arrived in the evening the reception was closed, but immediately a lady appeared who took us to the room and showed us the breakfast room and the way to the pool. We were honestly happy with such a quick check in because we were quite tired after the trip and we were well prepared already with information on what to do and where to go during our vacation. Later we took a walk and realized what is where. The next morning after breakfast the reception was open, where we met Luka and immediately resolved all questions regarding payment. After that, we didn’t even look at the front desk. If we had questions, I believe we would have no problems regarding contact with the host. At this time with the phone, WhatsUpp and the like we no longer have communication problems at all. I can add myself into a group of people who do not require too much attention from the host and a lot of communication with him. So as far as the discretion of the host is concerned, but again the feeling of his presence, everything is for 10! In my opinion, cleaners also like to be invisible and do not need to know speak English. The location of the hotel is great! There is a small moment that you need to cross the road and go along the road without sidewalks for ten meters if you go to the right. Everything else is normal, nice and very close. In front of our hotel there is the Sheraton Hotel whose territory should be bypassed on the left or right side, then you will reach the sea. If you go to the right you come to the center of the town of silver, if you go to the left you come to the center of the town of Mlini. Both are beautiful! They are connected by a beautiful promenade by the sea with beaches. In the shade of pine trees there are numerous cafes and restaurants. In the center of Srebreno there is a shopping center with boutiques for clothes and food. It is a great place to spend the whole day if it is raining outside. The location of the hotel is great! The pool itself is not large but is attractive and clean. There is enough deck chair. After a full breakfast we were happy to rest here. There are also tables, chairs, a large barbecue and something like a summer kitchen. Last night from our other food we prepared dinner for ourselves. It was really nice. Overall, we are happy with our choice of accommodation, which was not expensive but on a level!
