We are now twice in Kartong been for a week at the Equator Lodge. It is wonderful to stay quiet. No mass tourism and the crowds you see in the famous Gambian beach resorts. This is the real Gambian life that you can feel and experience. The locals are very welcoming. Lamin with his family and the people of Kartong...

I stayed at the lodge in September 2013 for two weeks. From the beginning on it was a pleasant and friendly stay. The staff was very friendly, the beach beautiful (and just next to the lodges), the beer was cold and the ocean water deliciously warm. In many ways the country is an adventure, and the Equator Lodge is a...

After seeing a review on this site describing it as 'abandoned' we called in briefly a couple of weeks ago and had a chat with Lamin, the Manager. Equator Lodge is a wonderful and unique place to stay (we stayed there for 4 nights in...

We visited Equator Lodge for 5 days at the start of our trip to The Gambia in dec 2012, and ended up going back for a further few days at the end because we loved it so much. The lodge is located right by the beach, closer than any of the other lodges nearby as far as I could tell....

We visited this lodge at the end of Nov '12 while we staying at Boboi Lodge about a 15 min walk along the beach, set back a short walk from the beach. Sadly it appears to be abandoned with just one lad left to look after the place. The roundhouses were in a terrible state - with all the mozzie...

Equator Lodge is a small eco lodge near beautiful Kartong village in south Gambia, right near the border with Senegal. We stayed here for 4 nights in January 2012 and it proved to be a lovely relaxing break from the hassle and crowds of Kotu/Kololi. Lamin the manager, Madi, Salifu and 'Boy' made us very welcome. The rooms are basis...

The Equator Lodge is located approximately 1km north of Kartong. We are three guys in our 50’s from England on a two week fishing holiday and spent four days at the Lodge between 3rd and 6th March 2011. What you see on the Equator Lodge and Equator Foundation web sites, is exactly what you get. See the videos. I spent...
