This was a very special experience for us. Helen is a great host! Warm , positive , energetic , intelligent and funny! we just love chatting with her! She has extensive knowledge on the local history, nature and hiking. Follow her advice and you will have the most amazing experience! Her ecolodge is a beautifully designed house with big windows...

It is totally unique and typically NZ. Pristine. A lovely breakfast with home made bread and yogurt. As it is an Eco lodge we didn't expect extra amenities Helen was a great host. .The position of the lodge is amazing with outstanding views of the valley and mountains. It is more a home stay but we had a wonderful dinner...

We enjoyed our eco-experience at Helen's house. Helen was a wonderful hostess who cooked a beautiful dinner and was warm and engaging. Nothing was too much trouble for Helen and she provided great insights into the local area. The bed was very warm and comfortable. The 'no flush' toilet took a bit of getting used to for us. This experience...

Our bedroom was clean and the place was warm, but we were expecting power so we could charge our phones. The kitchen bench had crumbs and food out on it. Dishes stacked on the drain board. The kitchen wasn't clean. We would not have stayed, but it was late and there are few alternatives in this rather remote area. There...

Thanks Brian for your feedback. I'm Helen, not Fern. You did made the observation that you should have checked my website. I could have charged your phone with the inverter off the solar charged batteries, had you asked. I did note that you did not complete the visitor book, as I has asked, although you had obviously perused it. The...

Helen is a fantastic host. She made a beautiful main meal, accomadating for my food allergies. We where offered a number of choices for breakfast, which was delicious. The bed was super comfortable and warm. In the morning we woke to the most stunning view of Arthur's Pass. Helen is also a New Zealand registered celebrant. She made arrangements for...

Wasn't it fun? I thoroughly enjoyed "the day" too. The ring-in witnesses and photographer make it even more unique!

We were coming back from a trek next to this lodge when i tumbled down while descending and got bruises in my knee... Till then we didn't even know of this place. We went to the lady of this lodge for some antiseptic. The lady was very warm. She took us to her house and gave me first aid. That...

I truly hope that your tramp further south has been worth the effort. And, start making a difference in your school, Robyn...gather those young people who have hope for the future and a conscience for doing something about their contribution. Till you return...

This was the last stop on our family tramping tour of mid-South Island, and it was truly the icing on the cake. We have 3 kids - 5yo, 7yo and 9yo - and we couldn't have come to a more welcoming home (Helen already has 12 grandkids!). Not to mention the ample range of interesting board games that Helen even...

It was a totally lovely hosting your family, and playing "Gran" to some more grandies! Even better to have had the unique earthquake experience, although not something I can promise other guests. And you've purchased your own Zooloretto game yet?

We stayed here on our way through from Christchurch to Franz Joseph and what a magical spot. The views from the lodge are breathtaking! Helen is a fantastic host, very knowledgable about the area and cooked up an amazing feast for dinner and a super yummy breakfast. The lodge is run with solar power so there are no power outlets,...
