After driving up and back from Arthur's Pass, this was a strategic stop on our journey to Mt Cook. Little choice in the area and I was unsure when booking but it seemed the best option so decided to take a punt. Unfortunately, my experience confirms many other guests' underwhelming visits. I booked a Deluxe Double Room with 1 queen...

I always get a chuckle out of people who have these crazy expectations of hotels only to be let down. This is a country town and you will be hard pressed to get such a high level of accommodation anywhere in McKenzie Country (yes - this is where you are) or in Ashburton down the road. The place is spotless...

We arrived. Checkin was smooth and friendly. There is a restaurant and bar that will probably be busier in skiing season. The reason this isn't a 4 for us is: - WiFi - you get 200 Mb free - for two devices. If you have children, you'll know this gets burned up fast. Two devices only!? If you buy another...

Travelled the South Island and this was by far the most underwhelming accommodation. Agree with previous comments saying felt creepy. Didnt feel safe sleeping there. Only one other car in the parking lot and we were sure that was a staff car. Was looking forward to using the hot pools but was told it was too late. We arrived about...

Stayed for three nights during the ski season but felt that what was on offer and the service received didn't reflect the price we payed. For example, the hot pools were either closed for maintenance or not warm enough to use. Housekeeping was a hit and miss - teas/coffees not always refilled, same with toiletries, cleaning rags left in our...

We stayed in a family room - queen and two singles. It was simple and clean. Shower over bath. Pros are the price and parking was easy. They also let us late check in with ease. Cons - no free wifi, you had to keep getting these vouchers that are one per room. They didn't last long. Rooms are not...

I have stayed regularly during ski season both solo and with family. It's very price friendly it has a huge games lounge area, 2 open fires, ski tuning room and outside hot pools. The rooms are adequate if a little tired. Cleaning is a bit inconsistent. For a base to ski Mt Hutt and usual online booking rate it's good...

Stayed 1 night when in town on business. Price was good, room was clean but that's about it. Food below average, especially breakfast. The fact we were the only ones in the bar and restaurant should have been a clue. Real shame as the place has potential but feels as if no one cares !

This accommodation was a great location while we visited Mt Hutt for a few days of skiing. It is conveniently placed and within a short walk of the town centre. The only down side was having to ask at reception every time we wanted to order a drink through at the bar so that one of the staff could come...
