Stayed in a 6 bed dorm in February. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a really nice lounge and good kitchen space. Good WiFi. The yha is located in a fantastic area. Would definitely recommended!

Easy location to find, check in and stay at. I recommend it, but probably only if you don't plan to spend a lot of time here.... ie use it as a place to sleep. It is nice, with great staff that are friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, but even if you have a private room I'd take earplugs...

Busy hostel, fully booked, comfortable, good kitchen facilities and comfortable double bed. Easy access to many nearby hikes. A bit more expensive than some hostels, probably because of location. Not a lot of choices in the area.

A group of two friends and myself stayed in a Private Triple Room at YHA Mt Cook for 2 nights in January 2017. This was towards the end of a longer tramping trip in the South Island. We booked this accommodation approximately six months before travelling and even then it was almost completely booked out. Given the good reviews and...

Hi Richard Thanks for your review. We're glad you enjoyed our new kitchen facility, the clean rooms and our friendly and welcoming staff. Great news! In June we are installing brand new bathrooms & toilets and a solar hot water & solar power system too. I was however disappointed to hear the issues you had during your stay. I'll try...

This place was nestled into the village and had spectacular views of Mount Cook behind it. The staff was nice and the kitchen facilities are awesome. We were only there for a night but it was a great spot for relaxing after some good hiking.

Hi,, Many thanks for your kind comments, We're glad that you and your family found our hostel comfortable, welcoming and easy to use. Good news on the shower front. We've just been given some funds to implement a solar hot water system which should improve the hot water pressure and availability.. This work is due to commence in June, all...

We wanted to stay in the Mount Cook Village and struggled to find a place, so booked two beds here. It was really nicely situated with great views from all windows. The dormitory was clean, equipped with lockers. The bathroom was rather small but clean. Kitchen was well equipped and clean as well. The common rooms were spacious and comfortable.

This was my first experience at a hostel (I am 59) and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was so clean and quiet. I do have to warn you that the customers make these amazing dishes in the kitchen and you will be tempted to ask them their recipes. The view from our window was amazing and the...
