This was very basic pub food. The service was OK, and the food quality was poor to OK for the meals that we ordered. We have really enjoyed some excellent dinners along the rail trail - but this was not one of them.

Its a pub meal and average with very good vegetables but the restaurant and its Foyer with paintings is roomy and old world feel .Good beers and friendly staff and locals and its the only place open on a friday night between Dunedin and Alexandra

Very helpful staff and owners when we wanted to stay an extra night they sorted it and helped us with transport to check out the local area too. Room was comfortable, warm and quiet so all in all a great place to stay.

We arrived off the Otago Rail Trail just in time to catch the All Blacks vs Pumas on the big screen in the bar. I had a very nice glass (or 3) of 5malt speights and a Porterhouse steak, eggs and chips. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. After the game we returned to our lodge to read TripAdvisor's ratings...

We stayed for one night, room was clean and had tea coffee etc, very clean, bed was comfortable too which was a plus! Staff were very nice and helpful! We ate in the public bar area, you could have chosen 2 other eating areas too btw but the fire was roaring! Food was great, lamb shanks, a little longer in...

I had a lamb shank which was a bit tough but I enjoyed the mashed potato and other steamed veges. I was relieved to find the Hotel open as there were not many other options in the township. Nice and warm.

We booked a table here prior to arriving in Ranfurly which was a good thing as it was very busy. The service was great however this is probably the only positive. When we arrived we went to the bar and were told our table was around the corner, unfortunately there was only one menu but that's ok. We ordered our...

Having driven past this old hotel a couple of times on previous trips we decided to stay for a night. It is ideally situated for visits to some of the old mining towns of Otago. We opted for the rooms with en-suite facilities as there are some rooms with shared bathrooms. The rooms are a bit dated and the outlook...

Classic rural Kiwi pub. Nothing flash but decent dinner with some good local Otago Wines available by the glass. Good southern hospitality. They will pick you up and deliver you back where you are staying complimentary although many places easily walkable as its in the central of the town and all very flat for walking. Only disappointment we paid about...

A lovely old art deco building with a typical country pub feel. The staff were all friendly and welcoming happy to chat about our day. Along with the usual Speight's beverage range they also offered an extensive classic pub menu but with the choice of a light serving instead of the usual gigantic offering, this was a good idea for...
