Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort presents a dichotomy of experiences, where guests have commended the extensive amenities, including diverse pools and gym facilities, alongside the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms. However, opinions diverge on the atmosphere, with some finding the evening entertainment vibrant, while others perceive a lack of ambiance. Service is generally lauded for its friendliness, but check-in delays and unheated pools have been drawbacks.
The location's tranquility is appreciated by some, yet criticized by others for its remoteness. Noise disturbance is a common concern, and the value proposition receives mixed reviews.

Stayed here for a week in a Junior Suite Sea View which was worth paying the extra supplement for, in fact I’d go so far as to say that had I not stayed in this particular room, I probably would not have enjoyed it as much as walking past the other rooms they did seem a little small in comparison.
The Junior Suite with a Sea View featured a separate living/seating area in addition to the bedroom and a huge terrace to enjoy sitting outside and sunbathe. Also it was in a very quiet location within the complex where we were not too overlooked by other guests nearby.
The room itself is a little bit dated and probably could do with a facelift, but the bed was comfortable and the cleaning was of a really high standard and I really appreciated how the cleaning staff ensured that door handled had been cleaned properly in the current climate with Coronavirus going down. In fact all over the hotel there was an emphasis on cleanliness with staff cleaning all areas of the hotel, hand sanitation stations and information on staying safe posted up.
In room amenities in this room type featured complimentary robe and slippers, beach towels without having to pay a deposit and also a complimentary large bottle of water for the first night.
Getting around the island is easy thanks to the bus stop outside where the number 3 will take you directly to Arrecife, Deiland Shopping Centre, Puerto Del Carmen or the centre of Costa Teguise every 20 mins. For anywhere else on the island you simply need to change buses in Arrecife. You can also walk to nearby Playa Bastián to catch number 31 to Caleta Famara which I would recommend for some peace and solitude.
Evening entertainment was quite good, certainly better than other hotels I have visited.
The only real disappointment here if am honest was the food. There wasn’t anything really wrong with it as I pretty much each anything, but in comparison to other hotels in the Canary Islands like La Palma, it was certainly not of the same quality or variety of local or other Spanish dishes and was tailored more to an International clientele. Even things like Tortilla Española was often quite dry.
Unlike some of the other reviewers I have read here I can confirm that food was hot and perhaps you may wish to consider visiting the buffets a little earlier on in the evening.
The best thing about this hotel aside from the general friendliness of the staff is the sincere and friendly welcome given by the check in assistant Beatriz. It really does show when someone is happy to be at their place of employment and her customer service is top notch.
Another thing I would recommend is booking on Barceló.com as if you book with them directly and sign up to their frequent guest scheme you also get a voucher to the value of 5% of the cost of your stay which can be used in the hotel which was handy to pay for drinks or other things like late check out €25 or the in room safe which was €21 for the week.

I have not reviewed until now in order to give Jet2 change to reply to our complaint. The food is very poor and luke warm if we
where lucky. The hotel says that the food is checked regularly not the 10 day's we where there.
My husband likes to try different foods so on this particular evening he choose sardines. He found in total 3 pieces of glass/hard plastic we didn't make a fuss he just went to speak to the restaurant manager who wasn't bothered just asked for our room number. We expected him to simply clear the food way so no one else would eat it, my husband took him to the ofending fish. Our first thoughts were it maybe rock salt but we know it wasn't .The largest piece was big enough to lick our finger and it wasn't salty.
Next morning spoke to Jet2 rep the lady did say she would have a word with the hotel management , still waiting to hear from her. We expected someone form the hotel management would have talked to us but no just sent lady with 2 bottles of cheap white wine which we could have got at the bar. We didn't except them took it as an insult just to keep us quiet.
The hotel is a poor 3 star Tui have down graded it think Jet2 should too its a shame bet it was beautiful when it was built .
The entertainment team have no idea its poorly managed. The sound in the entertainment area is dreadful you are not able to understand what anybody is saying. Long periods of slicence
They did have a couple of magic shows and some dancers which were excellent.
Christmas music on repeat around the pool all day for 3 days solid
Long ques at the only bar inside at night not the staffs fault.
Please don't think we are just picking fault only telling the truth. There are a lot of good reviews as well but from our point of view it was very disappointing.
Hotel management please don't insult us with one of your patrning answers. It's the first time we have used your chain of hotels and last.

Dear Carol, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at our hotel , please rest assured that your comments have been taken on board and revised by the entire Management team, however we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. First and foremost, we are deeply sorry to hear that you found a piece of rock salt during your stay, however we would like to take the opportunity to point out that our hotel, like all the hotels of our chain, undergoes regular independent audits sent both by the company and the tour operators we collaborate with to ensure our strict food safety management procedures, imposed on a global level by the company, are being followed and respected at all times; under no circumstances would we put our guests health at risk, their safety being of course our main concern. On the other hand, all trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless, please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future. Besides, we are sorry that the hotel category legally assigned to us for our facilities and services does not match what you perceived during your stay. We will continue to work towards changing this perception through our efforts and service-minded spirit. According to our entertainment, we will continue doing our best to bring performances which are of good taste and variety so as to guarantee quality entertainment for all our guests in the future. Regarding the music, we will take your suggestions into consideration to keep improving day by day. Moreover, we are glad to know that you enjoyed several shows such us our magic shows and dance. Our main commitment is our guests' satisfaction and our goal, their preference for our hotels year after year, this is why the management team together with all departmental managers, check regularly our installations, revise restaurants' menus and products, undertake regular service training so as to ensure the compliance of our high standards of quality as a distinctive feature of our brand; this is why we hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back on your next visit to Lanzarote and encourage you to point out any imperfection if any appears, we commit to do our utmost to make sure that you have a fantastic holiday experience among us. Stayed here for 2 weeks in October, when we first got there the hotel were not expecting us due to a holiday change through no fault of our own then it felt like we were chucked in any standard room available room 616. One of the receptionist were really rude to us and it wasn't a very good start to the holiday.. Got to the room, it was dated and our view was of a massive tree.. The receptionist said you have a sea view, you could see a tiny bit of the sea through the branch so I wouldn't really class it as a sea view!! Discussed this with the rep the next day and she was brilliant but the manager of the hotel took us up to another room and tried to charge us 30 euro per day for another room. After a couple of days we were moved to room 035 and it was lovely more modern and a pool view, this is when the holiday started for us. Food is OK but me and my partner did not like fish so some evenings it was hard to pick something we liked but there are theme nights such as Mexican and Chinese which were nice. The snack bar by the pool was handy and you can do your own toasties. There are two pools one heated and one not, very clean around the pool but you do have to get up early for a sunbed even though it says your not aloud to reserve. The staff go above and beyond and work extremely hard. I will mention sid/saide not exactly sure how to spell it, he made our holiday what a friendly man! Every time we saw him he always spoke and made a couple of jokes. The entertainment in the nights was good but there's only entertainment 3 nights a week which is a shame but when it was on it was brilliant. The entertainment team in the day are friendly and try their best to get you involved. The location is a bit out of Costa Teguise but you can walk there which takes 30 minutes or a taxi costs around 4 euro and there's a taxi rank right outside the hotel. All in all we had a great time but wouldn't return to this hotel due to the location but adults with children that don't want to go outside the hotel it's ideal.

Dear Guest, We first would like to thank you for choosing our hotel for your holidays in Lanzarote and for sharing your comments on your experience among us. We are sincerely sorry to read your dissatisfaction with the view from your room, however, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify that we allocate our rooms in accordance with the room category for which you can find a thorough description in our website, rooms with sea views are usually rooms of a higher category than standard rooms, for a future occasion we strongly recommend you to visit our website or to contact our call centre from where our agents will be able to give you all the relevant information on the hotel of your choice to make sure that you book the accommodation type that best meets your holiday needs and wishes. On the other side, our staff's professional service is a point of pride for us and we are quite disappointed to hear that you felt we under-performed in this area, nevertheless, please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the entire team for information and further revision. According to the location, many guests love our seafront location because it is set away from the bustling city life, yet close enough that a short trip takes them to many popular spots. On the other hand, we greatly appreciate your comments on the quality and variety of our buffets and theme nights such as Mexican and Chinese because our talented team of Chefs strive to ensure a wide variety of both local and international delicacies for each service to please all palates, it is indeed very rewarding to read that we were able to conquer yours. We also are very grateful for your highlight on the quality of the entertainment program during your stay and for mentioning the genuine friendliness of our team. Finally, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your kind words toward our waiting staff as they strive to deliver an excellent service at all times to ensure our guests fully enjoy their dining experiences among us. Once more we thank you for sharing your experience with us and we look forward to serving you again soon. Kind Regards, Beatriz Macareno Guest Experience Manager

We have just returned home from a week at this hotel. I cannot praise the staff enough for all the work that they do. There is constant cleaning going on, of rooms, communal areas, bars and poolside. After the sandstorm, they even had people out hosing down the trees and shrubs to get the dust off. The facilities provided for all guests are excellent; there is even a free drinks stand by the inside bar for water (sparkling or still) and hot drinks. We were all inclusive, and ate regularly in the buffet restaurant. Again, we were impressed with the choice and the quality of food. Our only issue with the restaurant really was that the food was never hot enough. By the time the food has been brought out, sat under a heat lamp for a while, then made it to your plate, carried through a large, air conditioned cafeteria and finally eaten, it is no longer hot enough. Sadly, this became enough of an issue for us that we preferred to eat out at other restaurants, which is a shame because the food at la Ancla (the on site buffet) was actually very good.
We checked out in the morning of our last day, but our flight was not until after dinner in the evening. The reception offer free baggage storage and also offered us the use of the shower room, to freshen up at the end of the day before leaving. They gave us fresh towels and the key to the shower room, and it made such a difference to be able to do this before we left. I'm fact, or entire stay we noticed thoughtless little touches such as this. The staff work really hard, in fact 99% of the staff at the hotel are utterly fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile and cheery "hola, beunos dias!" even when they must be tired themselves. There were two noticeable staff members who fell somewhat short with their customer service skills, but they were definitely the exception rather than the rule.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and cannot thank the hotel staff enough for everything they did to facilitate this. We loved Lanzarote and will definitely be back.

on arriving here on the 24th December the checkin was very long slow there was no welcome drink, we was asked if we wanted to upgrade to all inclusive pluss, whats this all about we had paid a lot of money to come to this hotel it should be all inclusive, with this there segregating people and if you don't pay you get a lower service from them, the food is very poor quality cold, as for the drinks they was very poor quality. as for the beer i had many drinks outside the hotel and this shown me how poor it was it was flat like coulred water, some drinks are undrinkable, some of the staff especially one manager was very rude to my wife,in the restaraunt there was always a lot of empty tables with dirty plates not tided away, leaving no empty tables, the cuterlery was always dirty i cleaned it every day with my serviette , like a greasy film on as if the water had not been changed in the dishwasher for some considerable time , there was a lot of plates which had a dirty worn marking on them required replacing, glasses a lot was dirty the entertainment was like none existent in the day no one told you where it was when it was taking place usually where we go the animation team go round asking if you want to join in not at this hotel, evening entertainment was very poor also, New years eave no entertainment until 1030 pm not good. lack of organisation on most things, now for the worst thing i have ever seen in all my traveling, In the restaraunt i found cockroches this in my 45 years of working with food is not exceptable. if they get onto food and lay eggs, of ecrment on it this will make someone very poorly, we was very reluctant to eat here after, take a look at the photos I have added i spoke with a manager about this who told me they fumigate evry month and she could show me the paperwork for it, that in my eyes is still not exceptable, whilst we was there a child found a cockroach in the popcorn which was in a pay machine, ths is discusting, the machine should have been turned off and thourly cleand it wasnt. they gave me a bottle of carva for my findings, which i left in the room as they gave my sister one which we opened it was dreadfull, as for organisational skills this hotel really needs a good shake up. this hotel could be good better organization. more staff in the restaraunt.better customer service skills. one drink i was given was that bad i could not taste anything for three days after and swallowing was reall bad

Dear Guest, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at our hotel, please rest assured that your comments have been taken on board and revised by the entire Management team, however, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. Furthermore, we have taken good note of your remarks related to the service you received upon check in and we apologise for the exceptional wait you experienced upon your arrival, we will do our utmost to improve on this aspect of our services and extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to you and your loved ones. On the other hand, we have also taken good note of your remarks on the dining experiences and we sincerely lament reading that we fell short of your culinary expectations on this occasion, we would like to take the opportunity to point out that our Executive Chefs follow a menu rotation including a wide array of both local and international delicacies to cater for all diet requirements and please the most demanding palates, this is why we are sorry to read that we were not able to conquer yours and will make sure to discuss your critics with our team. Moreover, all trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless, please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future. Besides, we have taken good note of your remarks on the cutlery in our restaurant and we have shared your comments with our head of department and we want to take this opportunity to explain that all dishes, cutlery and glasses are washed in industrial dishwashers at extremely high temperatures so as to not only remove any kind of food but also to ensure that all resistant bacteria are killed. All pieces are then replaced in the buffets by our staff who verifies that every piece is clean and spotless and clearly we were not performing to our usual standards on this occasion and encourage that in future you point out any imperfection whilst onsite for us to be able to intervene immediately. Despite your comments do not seem to quite match with the usual feedback that we receive both on this support and onsite, for a future stay, please do not hesitate to voice your concerns and approach the management team to inform us of the service imperfection you report on your review, we will be more than pleased to assist for you to fully enjoy your holidays among us. On the other side, we have very strict hygiene standards for our entire establishment and perform periodic pest control treatments, as per the applicable legislation and using professionally certified companies. Unfortunately, just like in a private home, insects can sometimes slip through, regardless of the measures we take. We understand the sensitive nature of this matter and offer our sincerest apologies once again. Our main commitment is our guests' satisfaction and our goal, their preference for our hotels year after year, this is why the management team together with all departmental managers, check regularly our installations, revise restaurants' menus and products, undertake regular service training so as to ensure the compliance of our high standards of quality as a distinctive feature of our brand; this is why we hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back on your next visit to Lanzarote and we encourage you to point out any imperfection if any appears, we commit to do our utmost to make sure that you have a fantastic holiday experience among us. We have another ten days to go! So far,we have enjoyed lovely weather and a quiet hotel which is wonderful. Having stayed at Barcelo hotels for previous holidays, many to the Pueblo Ibiza, which is now an Occidental hotel in Port des Torrent Ibiza,One to Barcelo Caleta de Fuste on Fuerteventura, one to Barcelo Marbella we have experienced the difference in quality & service from all. The best value for money is The Occidental in Port des Torrent Ibiza, which is closed in the winter. Barcelo, Caleta de fuste is excellent for food, location & service. This hotel has a lot of potential, our room which is a suite, is huge & very comfortable, location looking over the sea is great.Due to joining Barcelo intense & booking directly with Barcelo we are able to sit in a separate area for our meals in the restaurant which is quieter, and private. However we do not get any service from waiting staff. It’s as though we are an inconvenience. This should not be so as others in this area have paid 30 euros a day per couple to have a bit of privacy & branded drinks! They have to go find a waiter though to serve them these drinks. No plates are cleared away. You have to do it yourself! Pay more money, get no service! Food, is varied. I agree that it’s a lot of pork & chicken, but if you look hard, there are other options, chilli con carne last night, my husband had clams one night. Tuna salad, pasta, ribs, veal stew etc etc. We are fussy eaters. Our suite is the best room in the hotel, but the balconies vary in size. They do not all have two patio doors, which makes the balcony bigger, some have the same size terrace as a normal room. If this hotel was redecorated, had a entertainment manager that sought out good musicians like the Spanish guitar player we had on our first night, & the ABBA tribute band & gave better service in the restaurant for Barcelo intense & all inclusive plus residents then this hotel has the potential to be 5 star, but it needs dedication. Other than that we are making the most of things. Summary, have a dedicated waiter/ waitress in the All inclusive plus, Barcelo intense section of restaurant, redecorate some areas & rooms, get consistent quality of entertainment. Staff who have impressed us are, Beatrice 1&2, Wazzi, Jorge. Cheers!

Thank you for the wonderful description of the room we accommodated you in during your stay, it is our goal to provide our guests with spotless, attractive and spacious rooms and we are really happy to know you liked yours so much. What can we say. Stayed 14 nights when the hotel opened again after the covid 19 lockdown and the place was spotless. Constant cleaning in the public areas with bleach and disinfectant also room cleaned and towels changed daily. The food was excellent, fabulous salads and hot food. Breakfast offered full continental, porridge, cereals and a full English including black pudding! Omelettes and fried eggs cooked to order also delicious pancakes.
Entertainment - Luca, Bruno and Karen were amazing. Lots for the kids to do and classes for adults too and although we didn't join in, it's just not our 'thing' they always took time to chat, say hi etc. They even came to say cheerio on our last day!
There's a requirement to wear masks inside in the public areas and when at the bars and in the buffet restaurant but around the pool it was fine to take them off - felt safer there than back in the UK!
Would recommend this hotel and would go back, when Lanzarote is next on the holiday list!

Stayed here 18th to 25th Jan 2020. The hotel is about a 10 min coach transfer from the airport. The hotel is isolated, with only a couple of gift shops, a bar and a small over priced shop within the complex.
No other bars or restaurants near or within a reasonable walking distance. It took us approx 40 mins to walk into Costa Teguise along the coastal path. Hotel do provide bus shuttle runs at various times of the day. Bus stop also outside to reach other towns.
On checking in, we were initially given a room where the balcony was covered and blocked by trees. We spoke to reception and they moved us to a sea view without any hassle. A lot of the rooms are totally covered/shaded by big trees so if you are not happy speak to reception. The hotel is spread over a large complex and the outdoor appearence is very concrete looking and old fashioned. The rooms, whilst dated, are probably the biggest I’ve ever stayed in with a separate lounge and bedroom with English TV!! The bathroom is large with an excellent shower. The beds are comfy and the rooms cleaned daily.
The food, based on many all inclusive hotels I’ve stayed in is fair. It was hit and miss if the food was hot. They do have plate warmers which was good but most nights they appeared to be turned off. The main courses did become repetitive with lots of pork/chicken. Salads/breads/desserts were good.
Pool side bar was limited in choice but if you’re not happy you can always use the main restaurant.
All inclusive drinks do stop at 2300hrs which is earlier than the normal midnight. You can pay for drinks till after midnight. The drinks, including the spirits are all self serve and you have plenty of choice.
The hotel, for me, did not warrant a 4 star, it lacked anything special to warrant it from a 3 star in particular the food and presentation of the hotel.
We wouldn’t stay here again due to it being so isolated from any other bars/restaurants but if you’re happy staying in, it would be ok.

A hotel to be recommended. A wide range of activities on offer both during the day and in the evening but also plenty to do without the organised activities. All staff were helpful and pleasant throughout our stay connecting with as many people as possible to enhance their holiday experience.
Food in the main buffet restaurant was plentiful, kept well stocked and varied. We always found plenty to choose from so each day was a new eating experience. Tables were cleared away promptly and the dining hall was spotlessly clean.
Our room was spacious and cleaned each day. Beds were comfortable and made each day with towels changed daily if required. There was some wear and tear in the room and the view from the balcony was obscured by overgrown trees but otherwise comfortable.
I tried swimming in 3 of the pools, one of which was an Olympic size. More than enough to choose from! Sunbeds were plentiful and in a variety of areas ranging from quiet to buzzing.
All in all we enjoyed a great 7 days.
Thank you to all the staff.

We booked a last minite all inclusive holiday here. Having read some of the reviews we were not expect it to be so nice. Every member of staff we spoke to was king and helpful. The poolside entertainment staff were great. They were encouraging but not too intense. They felt like our friends by the end of the holiday.
With regards to the food, myself needing a strict gluten free diet, there was so much choice and everything was labelled with allergens. It wasnt until the 5th day that I actually felt the need to ask if they had any GF bread. Turns out they have bread pasta pizza and more. You could tell the food was fresh and the chefs were happy and friendly which is not usually the case in england! They even told me they are happy to get fresh plates of food for me straight from the kitchen to avoid cross contamination. That is a big tick in the coeliac world.
The only negative I have is that the room we were placed in had trees directly outside the balcony so we did not have a view or any sun on the balcony at any time. As it was chilly in the evenings it didnt cause too much of an inconvenience but would have been annoying mid summer.
The all inclusive bars had self service on spirits which was great.
I would happily go there again in the future subject to having a better balcony view.
