Can't fault Barcelo. Enjoyed everything would definitely recommend. I will be visiting again soon. The sights are beautiful, lots of activities to keep you going. Safety is very good here. Environment Is calm.
We selected this hotel due to it being Adults only and based on the reviews posted on here. We had wanted a central position and the hotel was in a good place for walking to the main areas of the town. Check in was easy and we enjoyed our welcome drink. Our room was a junior suite and had plenty of space with a sitting area separate to the bed area. The sofa could have been a little more comfortable but we did like the separation of the two areas. We had a couple of issues with the room which were dealt with by staff ( we were impressed with all the staff we dealt with - they were all very helpful and friendly.) 1) The rain shower head was not working when we arrived then the water was not draining properly. This was sorted on our first evening although the maintenance did leave dirty footprints in the shower and on the shower mat - not ideal! 2) We found a small cockroach inside the wardrobe. Cleaners came with insecticide and sprayed but it disappeared. However, they left the insecticide in the room so we were able to catch it the following day. It was a little disturbing but I understand that they are found all over the island so we were just unlucky. Fortunately, we did not find any of its family members! The pool area is very nice and well kept but we couldn’t spend too much time there as our time there was so windy - only a very few hardy people were braving the water and we only managed an hour at a time on a sun bed. We had opted for half board but would not do this again. Although the food presented in the buffet was generally good, the way the rooms are organised led to some chaotic times, especially in the morning at breakfast. There simply isn’t enough space for the number of people trying to get their food at the same time. On one occasion, we had to search round the restaurant twice to find anywhere to sit for breakfast. When we went at around 8.30, it was bearable; any later was just too manic. Staff were doing their best to serve drinks or to clear plates but tables were not always reset quickly enough. The system would work better if people were allocated time slots. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the restaurant, we felt, was a let down.…
Amazing hotel with two break taking pools, and everything you could hope for a top hotel under one roof. Surprised it’s not rated 5 Stars but I’m sure that will come soon. Rooms - are beautiful, so nice to have a spa bath in your very room or on the balcony, made such a difference, excellent styling and lighting, exceeded my expectations. Facilities are endless, around 3 restaurants, 4 bars, right on the front of the beach, what more could you ask for. Staff- extremely friendly and welcoming, always willing to offer help if needed, very polite always greeting you first, from top to bottom staff were exceptional!
This is a good standard hotel that consistently delivers. The staff throughout the stay engage well with their guests ( I don't envy their job especially given the rudeness they put up with!) Food very good and lot's of it...dinner lot's of choice. Breakfast ample The accomodation is of a good standard, the housekeeping staff are the best! What I really noticed is the arrogance and rudeness of people, who to be quite honest would step on you to get a banana, pure rude.... I hope you're reading this! The weather was a huge disappointment honestly Just a couple of hours of sun here and there in the 13 nights....and that infamous Teguise wind!!!!! However to conclude...barcelo Teguise beach still consistently delivers.... I take my hat off to it's staff! I'd recommend Erik's, Olga's and La Toscana for lunch ( all very close to The barcelo and a warm welcome to be had here)…
When summer is over and still feel like going on a vacation trip to relax this resort is perfect. Kind staff, clean rooms, plenty of food choice, close to the beach and maybe best of all: no screaming kids in pools. Thank you for the service!
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Barcelo ,after reading some reviews we were a little concerned. They could not have been more wrong , from first booking in at reception, being shown to our room, eating in the restaurant, being served cocktails in the bars and sitting round the pool. The whole holiday at the hotel was brilliant. I Would definitely recommend the Barcelo its a fabulous hotel.
Wonderful hotel , staff are amazing , partner is celica , had gluten free lager, gluten options , he could request any food they would cook for him , fanastic hotel , junior suite so big , clean overall 10/ 10
First impressions were great. Customer service at reception was excellent, drink on arrival a nice touch. Location: The hotel location is fabulous. Everything you could need or want is on your doorstep. Rooms: Room layout for deluxe double is very odd. There is no bathroom. It is an open plan room with only a toilet cubicle and a partially frosted glass partition separating the shower cubicle from the main bedroom meaning you can look your fellow roommates in the eye as you shower and they can just about see your silhouette through the frosted section of glass. The shower cubicle as you walk in depresses and can be slippy with no grab rails and the temperature takes a bit of adjustment but you get there in the end. The wash hand basin is standalone and an extension of this partition with very little space for your own toiletries. It is very strange indeed (see photos). There is complementary water in your room on arrival and 1 bottle each of this is offered daily as you cannot drink the tap water in Lanzarote. Unfortunately the house keeping staff didn't give us water on one of the days but they do work very hard so probably just an oversight. The bed is incredibly comfortable, one of the best I have ever experienced with a choice of 3 different pillows and there is plenty of hanging space for clothes in the wardrobe. The balcony is adequate. There is a coffee machine and a kettle in the room but only Earl Grey tea bags so bring your own and buy a carton of milk to store in the fridge as the only milk is pods for the coffee machine. I emailed in advance to request a sunny room not on the ground floor. We were given Block C, room 2036. Having read reviews on here previously stating block C did not get sun in January, I was concerned but I needn't have been. We had a pool view and plenty of sun. Did not use the pool as the weather during our trip wasn't the best but it looked nice enough albeit freezing. Beach towels in the room so no need to bring your own. Entertainment: We only used the Champs bar for playing pool in the evenings. Can't comment on the entertainment as we didn't hang around long enough. A few singers were performing when we were there. Dining Experience: The area where the buffet was laid out, in my opinion is too small at busy times. It was difficult to manoeuvre round people at times or get near the items that you wanted unless you push your way in. If you are an adult with autism or have anxiety, this will not do you any favours and often you will do without getting what you really want due to the stressful experience. Food is really good although as previous reviews have stated, some was lukewarm and a bit repetitive. Despite the repetition, the choice is excellent the quality (minus the temperature on some things) is also really good. Plenty of choice for breakfast and also caters for gluten free though as gluten is not an issue for me, I can't really comment on selection. Fruit juice selection is brilliant and there's even alcohol available for breakfast!! Plenty of tea (regular breakfast tea) and coffee too. Dinner again had a fantastic selection on offer however two big issues I had were that there were nuts sprinkled over deserts and no allergy warnings. Utensils had a contamination risk so I had to avoid many things. Perhaps it's a Spanish thing to sprinkle nuts over everything as it's not the first time I've come across this on the island. Second issue, if you're half board you do not get a drink with your evening meal. Not even water. This was very disappointing given that drinks were included at breakfast. You would have thought that water with your evening meal would be an absolute basic. What if you were to choke slightly on your meal?? I understand charging for alcohol... but water. That's very poor in my book! We were presented with the bill when checking out and they charged different prices on different days even though we had Still Water every night?? I didn't have time to challenge as we were waiting for our transfer. All in all, it was a lovely break but still unsure if I would go back. The photos on the website definitely make it look better than it is and going by UK standards, I wouldn't give it an overall 4* but this isn't the UK! Yes service was excellent, staff lovely and it was spotlessly clean (if you don't look under the sofa, I always check I haven't left anything by checking underneath things before I leave) but just some small things like room layout, cold food and no drink with evening meal coupled with nut allergy cross contamination of utensils (which is a major life threatening risk for those with severe allergies), for me brought it down. …
The hotel was very attractive with lovely views over the sea. The restaurant was great with different options every night and lots of freshly cooked food. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Just returned from this hotel. I am a frequent visitor to the Canaries and whilst I can say that I enjoyed my holiday, my experience at this hotel did spoil it somewhat. First of all the positives: The view from my room was lovely, a glass of cava at check in was very welcome The bed was extremely comfortable and soft as were the pillows The hot tub/whirlpool bath on the balcony was lovely The shower was warm, powerful and easy to control - however a non-slip mat, grab handle or somethin is required. The shower tray was very slippery. I almost fell a couple of times and it made me very nervous. The location of the hotel was good - very central Unfortunately, these positives were a little spoiled by the following' - The air conditioning was impossible to control - the 1st night I was cold because I could not turn it off. The bedding/quilt was very thin & Costa Teguise can be windy and cold. The layout of the hotel was illogical - the 4 blocks were not well signposted and the lift for the block where my room was located was impossible. I spent a lot of my holiday wandering around trying to find my room! There was not enough storage for toiletries etc and the wardrobe would not allow you to hang long dresses etc which was annoying. The pool was so cold that it was almost unuseable. Dining experience - very poor at best I am coeliac/gluten intolerant and I am restricted what I am able to consume. I asked the reception if the chef could make some gluten free pancakes for breakfast as a treat, but it did not happen. Absolutely nothing was labelled - I had to avoid a lot of the sauces etc because I was unsure. I asked the staff a couple of times, but I felt like a nuisance. The deserts looked delicious, but I was unable to eat them, There was no sweet alternative other than ice cream. The fruit at breakfast was nice, but again repetative. The food was very repetative - I ate salad, usually with tuna or egg as a starter and had plain meat, potatoes and vegetables for the main course most nights. There were some large, juicy prawns one night, but they were not seasoned so they were tasteless. They would have been delicious with some garlic butter and herbs. The steak I had was thin and a little tough. Poor quality produce in my opinion. The lack of choices at the resturant and the manner of one member of staff led me to eating elsewhere on 3 occasions. The food was poor, uninspiring and the rudeness of one staff member spoiled my experience (I spoke to the customer experience manager about the rude member of staff, but she did not appear interested in the slightest) On 2 occasions I asked for a alternative milk such as almond milk for coffee, on both occasions I was told that there was no almond or soya milk available. There were often no cups or spoons and tables were not cleared during busy periods. I recognise how hard the staff work, but in my opinion they need better organisation and management. Barcelo need to up their game at this hotel in my opinion. This, for me, was not a 4* experience, it fell far, far short. …
