If you are looking at a self-contained, almost more Airbnb type experience, then Villa Indra will find you in the heart of Pondicherry in comfortable accommodations on a very reasonable budget. The rooms are tastefully decorated, well lit and the main suite at the back comes with an attached bathroom and common living room area which we actually had all...

Villa Indra is more like a studio apartment - Yes, there is someone during the day to clean the rooms etc and the host, Mouguilane is very helpful (had some good local guidance and help) - but its not a Hotel or a home stay (Mouguilane lives close by, but not in the building). However, the place is Mouguilane's ancestral...

Mugilan, the manager told us that there is another spacious room, but it was occupied for the days we wanted. We took the road facing room as the other one didn't have any ventilation (it seemed). Cons:...

We ended up in this guest house because all the other hotels were booked for that week-end - not sure what to expect. This was recommended by another guest house, which was also full. It turned out to be a very good surprise. The owner is really nice and took good care of us. The rooms are simple but clean,...
