We had a family room interconnecting with our children , nice clean rooms, memory foam mattresses, shampoo etc in showers, hairdryer , sofa, mini fridge and a view of the pool.
Good choice of buffet style meals with fresh pizza/pasta station and snacks/ice cream/ drinks available at pool bar. No branded drinks which we expected as it wasn’t all inclusive plus and same in all 4 star hotels but you could order and pay if wanted . safe was a deposit on arrival and towels were 10 Euro deposit each but nice quality .
There was allot of nationalities German, french, Spanish, holland, Italian and probably 10% from the uk but lovely relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and a fab animation team, big shout out to xavi (chavvi) and Dyogi you really made our holiday fun.
Very quiet town with one row of shops/restaurants beside a lovely man made beach 2 min walk down a hill from hotel and steep walking back to the the hotel, atm and bus stop outside hotel. Car/scooter rental outside and kayak hire on the beach .
Lovely holiday that we would recommend to people who just like to relax around the pool .
The water splash park was a 4 minute walk from hotel that was perfect for children with drinks and snacks and umbrellas too, no issues with sunbeds, however umbrellas were limited. Would highly recommend.
The hotel is in a great location and situated just a few minutes walk from the seafront which is completely accessible by all.
The hotel consists of a number of colourful accommodation buildings which surround the central pool area. We were in block 2, which had a sea view. The hotel is clean, modern, well maintained and had a lovely atmosphere.
The staff were friendly and helpful particularly during check in at reception and also in the restaurant.
We were upgraded on arrival from a double room to a family room which was much bigger. The room was cleaned and serviced daily.
Absolutely no complaints with the room, it was spacious, well maintained and had tea/coffee making facilities along with a small fridge and a lovely view.
Pool towels are available for a €10 deposit and can be changed as frequently as you like.
The main area has two pools and plenty of loungers, it wasn’t busy during our stay so always able to find a spot in the sun. In the height of the season I should imagine it’s probably a bit more of a challenge though. There is also a small children’s splash pool in this area.
During our stay only the outside main pool bar was open but this definitely didn’t cause any problems.
There is a separate family area located at the bottom of the hotel just a short walk from the main buildings, which had a couple of pools, one being a lovely fun pool. There is a bar there which wasn’t open at this time of year.
The choice of drinks at the bar was great, a number of cocktails were also included in the AI package as was non alcoholic beer.
The choice of food in the restaurant was varied and was mostly hot and restocked often. There was a great salad bar and the desserts always looked tasty. I have a gluten intolerance which was not always easy to manage with the self service food. However, there was a separate gluten free menu daily which you could order from for lunch and evening meal and at breakfast depending on who you managed to speak to I often was given a selection of gluten free breakfast foods as well as being able to order GF pancakes, toast and baguettes.
The entertainment both during the day and the evenings was varied and the entertainment staff were fun and friendly.
We hired a car for the week and parked it on site, the parking charges were reasonable and made even more palatable by the 20% discount we received for being a My Barceló member.
We really enjoy staying at hotels within the Barceló chain and this one was no exception.
Easy check-in with the friendly and informative staff. We arrived before we were able to get into our room, so we put our cases into a luggage room and were able to use the facilities and all-inclusive straight away.
The pool bar did amazing snack food, including our favourite toasted sandwiches. The bar staff here work very hard.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the restaurant were always hot and plenty of choice. There were theme nights and an italian cooking station outside.
The animation team worked very hard both during the day and night, and we enjoyed the evening entertainment. The evening entertainment is held inside and has a bar at the back. The bartender here was happy and hardworking.
Our room was lovely and clean. We were in block four. All blocks are painted in lovely bright colours, they are 3 floors and have lifts.
The hotel and grounds are clean and lovely throughout thanks to the hardworking maintenance and housekeeping team.
The resort itself is quiet with a handful of restaurants and supermarkets. Some nights there is a market. The beach is sandy and clean. It is a short walk to the resort past the family pools and bar.
Down there you can catch the ting ting train around the neighbouring areas for about 7 euros each. Outside the hotel, you can catch the bus for a few to the Capital Mahon, which is definitely worth a trip. We enjoyed our mini break here and hope to come back one day with hubby and youngest daughter. Thank you, Occidental, for a great stay.
The Hotel check in was very easy and we were given our room about an hour and a half after arrival but were told we could use the all inclusive facilities straight away which was good.
The hotel facilities are very good the restaurant offers a wide variety of choice and is to a very good standard, often on all inclusive holidays the standard of food is questionable but i can honestly say this was restaurant quality every day, with waitress service at the table for drinks. The rooms were a little tired and could have done with a paint refresh but they were cleaned every day with fresh towels and the bedlinen changed after two days. The hotel Animation team were fun and provided entertainment and activities for all ages if you wanted to join in and night time entertainment was varied for children and adults. The hotel is located three minutes from the beach where you will find a handful of nice restaurants. A very pleasant relaxing holiday at a very well run hotel.
Firstly the great features; our room was large and very clean with daily cleaning service offered. Our cleaning staff were very polite and friendly and did a great job of keeping our room tidy-thank you. The public areas were always clean and tidy and there were several areas we could use to sit and relax. There is a separate quieter pool area set away from the maim pool area which we did use on most days ( mainly to avoid the noise from the main areas).
The restaurant was mainly clean and tidy although very busy . The restaurant and kitchen staff were very polite and helpful. They worked very hard and we have to give all the restaurant staff a huge thanks for their hard work. The quality of the food at both breakfast time and dinner was very good. There was a very good choice of food and we couldn’t fault this in any way . Perhaps the hot food could have been kept hotter.
The location in Punta Prima is okay and in a fairly quiet small resort with a few local supermarkets and restaurants that have a reasonable selection of menus. You can get the number 92 bus into Mahon which runs hourly so a good choice to get out . You can also walk to Binibeca in about an hour (or get the road train for €7.50. We also walked along the coast to Alcafur, a very small village and cove where you can swim & snorkel safely in the calm waters.
Secondly the not so great features; There was a constant level of loud music being blasted out at the main poolside which was very annoying. The constant drum beating of ‘modern’ tunes was relentless and it was difficult to have a conversation without having to shout to be heard. We did raise the volume issues with reception, but to no avail, it just continued. It certainly seems that the hotel caters more for families with children and the inexperienced‘entertainment team’ didn’t really have a clue what the volume button was for. Even when there were few people by the poolside, they continued to blast out Ibiza 18-30’s music. So if you’re looking for a chilled peaceful place to stay, maybe this isn’t the place for you. One thing we also noticed in the restaurant every day were the numbers of guests steeling food to take out and just being allowed to do this.
We would have definitely rated this hotel as a 4 or 5 had it not been for the constant loud banging sounds reverberating from the so called entertainment operatives. Would definitely say that the management should consider employing more experienced entertainment staff who understand how to satisfy a range of guests and not just 16-30 years. We would also have liked to see perhaps fewer evening entertainment but of better quality..
Overall, if you want loud booming Ibiza style music you’ll probably love it here, but if you’re looking for a quiet restful holiday, look elsewhere.
The restaurant/buffet had a good variety of food on and regularly turned around, the staff worked very hard. Timings are abit awkward as only a small window for breakfast and lunch so very busy and rushed. On our first night we went to for the evening meal after a long day travelling with kids, we were early so checked the opening time on the reception computer (7pm) so waited, 7 came and we stuck our heads in to see if anyone was opening up, a man shouted and told us to get out, he was rude and not apologetic at all and repeatedly just said it opens at 7.30 and the I was wrong, maybe I am wrong but I don’t think that’s a great way to talk to a new customer learning the place and going off what reception say!
Kids pool area needs a good clean up and the pool bar there was a waste of time. The mini club for the kids was great and the staff worked very hard to entertain the children which makes holidays much easier when the kids are happy!
We eventually were shown to our room 8009 it was quite small and our view was terrible,
The sliding door did not lock and the main shower did not work all week.
We decided to go and get some lunch only to be questioned if we were all inclusive as the receptionist had forgotten to give us our bands.
I had emailed the hotel prior to our arrival to tell them it was our honeymoon and mentioned it again on check in, throughout our whole stay there was not even a mention or a nice drink on the house or anything which I thought was quite poor.
The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word that is being said.
The best meal of the day was breakfast the rest was always lukewarm and not very inviting.
My biggest bugbear was pool towels if you wanted to change them you had to pay £1 towards the washing !!!
This was our first time in Menorca would we come back YES would we stay here most definitely NOT
We are leaving today will I remember my honeymoon probably not
The family part, I loved. As long as you get there for 10, you will get a parasol around the splash pool.
The only criticism I have, which hopefully you might take the feedback is:
Tea is late at 7.30 when you have a little one. 6.30 would be a better time, so they are not too tired.
Splash pool opened at 10, but bar was 12, so you had to keep walking up to the main bit for a drink which was annoying.
Balconies aren’t safe for little ones, my little girl tried to climb the rails, so we couldn’t spend any time on the balcony
