#2 of 10 hotels in Calafell
Hotel Antiga takes place in the middle of Calafell, just a few metres from the Medieval Castle of the Santa Creu. It is situated in an old traditional Colonial House that has been restored. The beach is only one kilometre from the Hotel so you can enjoy it and have a walk in the seafront. Moreover, you can relax in our terrace which has a big pool and a beautiful garden dominated by centenary palms and an olive tree. The Hotel is decorated with a rustic style, including fishing images and wine elements as a vine. You can eat in our restaurant and taste our traditional Catalan dishes. Come in, we are waiting for you!

Highly recommended. the place is really beautiful and very nice.Perfect for those seeking relaxation immersed in a world that recalls an atmosphere that smacks of ancient, genuine and very welcoming. In front of the castle of Calafell.. I discovered the perfect environment to relax in the evening during a business trip. Really qualified and very very kind staff. delicious food. I will be back for the holidays

We had a Smartbox gift that included this hotel, we thought it’s in the original town and looks good. Well we where not disappoint, the layout is great it’s 2 minutes walk to the castle and the swimming pool is large and sun blessed. We had dinner bed and breakfast all was excellent. We decided to walk down to the beach where there are many bars and restaurants it’s a very nice area but a good 35 minutes walk just to get too the front!

We had a 1 night stay at the Hotel Antiga in early March. It was a midweek night but we arrived to find the hotel main door locked and a notice in Spanish telling you to phone a number to get a door access code. Not a very welcoming start! Our room key was left on the unmanned reception desk. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but small (no room for a chest of drawers, just a wardrobe) and the shower room was very small and dated. Definately in need of un update! My major issue was the heating, it never worked properly and we were very cold in bed. Yes, I know it was early March but you do expect a hotel to be warm. The dining room was also freezing, and very lacking in atmosphere. I think there were only about 10 people eating in the dining room, but it lacked any ambience, a bit of background music might have improved it.The food was okay, nothing special, but everything was served on cold plates so we had nothing hot to eat. The soup may have been hot when it went into the cold bowl but by the time it got to me it was lukewarm. Same thing with our main course of rabbit casserole, which came accompanied with (cold) chips, no other vegetables. Calafell is a nice little town, and a short walk to the coast, but I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Dear Ms. Jane, Thank you for your time to share this comment with us. We would have liked you to have better experience in our hotel than that you have had. Although the room had big wardrobe, and a table to leave your luggage, if it was too small for you there is always a possibility to tell that for the staff of the hotel and we could offer you, paying the difference, to change from the normal double room to a bigger one, which has big bathroom with jetted tub. Unfortunately during the low season from Mondays to Thursdays there are not many people eating during the dinner compared to Saturdays when there is live piano music playing and the restaurant is full. We every day are making efforts to let our guests enjoy their stay unfortunately yours were not the case. We would appreciate if you would give us another chance and you can be assured that we will do all the possible to let you have an excellent stay as the other guests already had a chance to enjoy. Kind regards!

We stayed at this hotel last weekend and I can only say,,,no words! Starting from the friendliness of the Lituanian receptionist (sorry I couldn't catch her name) and following with the professonality of the manageress, we found this hotel a great place to stay... and eat!!! Our room was on the first floor of this old but renewed establishment and our balcony overlooked a huge garden with a swimming pool and lots of palm trees and also fruit trees (lemon and orange among others). Our room was en-suite with a double bed plus an extra one that could fit two more people if needed. A tv set and air-conditioning completed the room together with a desk with some info about the hotel. The dinner was another surprise. While we were seated at a table facing the garden and lit with a little candle, a pianist performed some classical pieces (if my memory and my knowledge serve me well, I could recall Haydn, Liszt, Chopin and Mendelssohn among other brilliant composers). The food was good and the decor was nice with black and white photos of Calafell of the past and of the same family who started the business. In the morning we had breakfast with the rays of the sun shining on us and all the dining room which gave another dimension of the place. Being a curious person as I am, I got close to the piano to inspect it and I was surprisingly invited by the waitresss in charge to have a go at it. I played it for a while just to test its quality and strangely enough I was thanked by some of the other guests and even the receptionist! Honestly, I'm really mediocre. After breakfast we had a stroll in the garden under a splendid sun and sat down by the pool to sunbathe for a while. All in all, I can say that this is a marvellous hotel placed a little far from the beach but so quiet that it doesn't seem to be a coastal village. You don't even have to sport a watch; the church next to Hotel Antiga will strike all the quarters and hours all day long. So if you're awake at night and feel like a lazybones just listen to the chimes and you'll know for certain what the time is. Really recommendable!

Thank you for such warm and pleasant feedback. At the end of the day nothing pleases more than to know that you, sir, and other our guests enjoyed the stay, the hotel, the garden and the environment that is created by our staff and every happy or curious, piano playing guest. Happy to hear that you enjoyed every bit of the experience, from the chimes during the night till the dinner with a candle and piano music in the background. Have a lovely day and greetings from the staff!
