Great location, quiet, room (208) ideal size, with balcony, refrigerator, shower, toilet; bathroom with own window. Everything clean and functional. Smoking is allowed on the balconies (table, two chairs); in case of sunshine, the balcony is equipped with a parasol. Windows fitted with insect screens; all windows and balcony doors can be tilted and opened. Breakfast is absolutely sufficient for us. Coffee / tea / cold milk, several types of bread and pastries available, including two types of wheat buns, approximately ten types of sausages, six types of cheese, hard-boiled eggs, butter, eight types of pits, up to six types of juices, two types of mineral water , up to six kinds of yogurt, two kinds of fresh fruits and four kinds of fresh vegetables, several kinds of cereals. Room cleaning was done daily, perfect. Towels are changed by default once every three days, on request at any time; bed linen once a week, on request at any time. For my taste, soft mattresses on the beds (but it is clear to me that the opinions on the hardness of the mattresses are diametrically different for visitors). Older furniture; however, some of the rooms are equipped with distinctly new furniture. Especially in the evening, a weaker Wi-Fi network and, unfortunately, the operator signal is not the strongest for data traffic. Apart from breakfast, no meals or hot drinks can be purchased at the hotel. Cold drinks (soft drinks, wine, beer) are available in the self-service refrigerator in the hotel reception area. However, in the village there are several restaurants within walking distance in the vicinity, where you can eat, drink coffee, etc.…
We stayed there only one night and everything was fine. Clean room, very friendly owners and also very nice breakfast. There was no view from balcony, but who would stay in the room instead go out to visit a fantastic national park there :-)
I have to admit that this was the cheapest hotel we've stayed in Bavaria - but the hotel level suited the price. The room was OK, though no real view from the small balcony. There was a musty odor in the bathroom which was tiled very old. But what interupted us above all was the stingiest approach - the light in the elevator was turned off to save electricity and was turned on by the hosts from the reception - the problem was that 80% of the time they were not there. In general it seemed we were the only guests... We received one soap and a small shampoo bottle. For breakfast - eggs and croissants were served per the exact number of guests we were. Though the host was helpful in helping us with the activities around - we tried to stay out most of the day in order to minimize our stay in the room.…
We came to Neuschonau because of the film festival NaturVision. The festival team has recommended us this hotel and we were more than satisfied. The rooms were nice and clean, the service was perfect and the breakfast as well. We have really enjoyed the stay in this hotel!
Hotel is very nice, quite, with all facilities: parking just in front of the hotel door, free wi-fi, room with balcony. In add, staff is extremely helpful --they gave us an umbrella bacause it was raining, they printed a map with the near restaurant, really outstanding! We were travelling with a dog, and also the dog entering the hotel was happy! Sure the best choiche to visit National Park as it's really close to the park entrance. Higly recommended.
Neuschönau is a quiet (except for the very loud church bells nearby!) Bavarian village, very well located to make the most of the adjacent Bavarian Forest National Park. The Vitalesca hotel is nicely appointed and very clean. The staff (in low season, it's basically the owner/manager and one helping lady) is knowledgeable and very helpful. English is spoken here, which is a major improvement over the rest of the village, where German is the only means of communication (plus body language, of course). The room I had (260) is described as a "suite" and I selected it because of its own kitchen facilities: being there for a week and with my non-existent German, I thought it could be nice to have the option to prepare and eat meals "at home", so to speak. Well, the "suite" in question not only boasted a nice-sized bedroom with walk-in closet, but also a second bedroom, slightly smaller, and a very spacious living room/dining room/kitchen with a small balcony on the side. The apartment sleeps 4 people and I certainly had plenty of room to spare, for a very reasonable price. There were downsides, however: aside from the already mentioned church, the place is located just under the roof, and the bathroom, which looked very spacious at first, was in fact quite limited: even in front of the sink, I sort of had to remain hunched so that my head would not hit the very low ceiling, and taking a shower in the tub was a very cumbersome affair (I'm 1.85 meters, a little over 6 foot). The bathroom towels were also a little too thin and decidedly not fluffy at all, and the little complimentary bottles of hair/body shampoo were too small, and the staff (which diligently cleaned the place every day) seemed to forget to replace them: I had a complement of 3 which was never topped up, even though I stayed 5 nights, and so the last two days, I had to use the little soaps... This is not acceptable. The last complaint regarded the wifi network: it was VERY temperamental, not working, then working, then not working again... The owner/manager was very helpful but a bit baffled I think. As I was the only guest in the entire hotel, he ended up allowing me to use his private network, which worked fine and was reasonably fast for such a remote location, but I have a feeling that such a facility would not be made available to just about everyone if there happened to be any number of guests present. The breakfast (included in the room's price) was plentiful in quantity and adequate in quality, with very good French croissants (defrosted of course but still very light and tasty). All in all, a nice place to stay, which I would recommend without reservation, were it not far that much too low ceilinged bathroom, and the on-and-off wifi.…
