Our first visit to this place for about 14 years. Initially a 'hotel, food and breakfast'. A couple of managers/franchisees in between. The place is now run as a B&B. Not really a Pension despite the title and not a Gasthof, just rooms with bed and breakfast. Adults only as no children allowed. We were assigned room 3 on the first floor. What a wonderous surprise. A small hallway with a shower room off to the side. A substantial lounge (with private balcony). A large size bedroom with a massive bed (very comfortable) and plently of storage. Breakfast room open 07:30 - 09:30 (optional and extra but definately worth it) with buffet style breakfast with toaster, hot coffee machine, cereals, meats/cheeses, fruit salad, fresh fruit etc. Also on the first floor is a communal room with fridges and cupboards for each room with plates and cutlery etc. Self-catering style if you want to. The couple who own and run it speak English, warm and very welcoming. The decor is modern but remembers its roots with beautiful furniture. I would never have thought of coming here but for the fact that the pension we stay in was fully booked for the second weekend. I will most certainly come back here. This was written June 2019.

Cozy, stylish small pension in the middle of beautiful nature og the National park. Wide choice breakfast with good coffee, wifi, can bring your dog. Few restaurants in walking distance but amazing eating experience - Landgasthof Euler, cca 5 km from here.

Hotel is situated in the heart of Bayerischer Wald. Although it stands on a road it was very quiet, especially during the night, absolute silence. We have arrived very late, almost at midnight but girl from the reception has come to us quickly after a telephone call. There was a room with kettle, cups and tea/coffee etc.and other drinks like water, bier, so it was very pleasant to drink a cup of hot tes at the end of the day. No charge was taken for 2 bottles of water though we have informed at a reception we have taken them. Very clean. Soft flannel bed linen though not too new. A slight smell of smoking was in a room. Unfortunately there was no hot water that late, so we were not able to take a shower after a long way. It was also quite cold in a room, so I awoke up with a stiff neck and shoulders, as the whole night I was trying to curl up under the blanket to warm up. Good breakfast, not too rich but enough. Very polite and friendly staff. In total it is a good hotel to stay in for several days.
