It is fair to say that at the time of our visit the family run Hotel Dreisonnenberg was quiet. Based on the breakfast tables laid with cutlery I suspect that there was only one other guest during our first night and that we were on our own after that. May is perhaps not peak season but even so, the location itself and the hotel did not suggest that this was to be expected. I had requested on booking that a room with a view be booked so we were situated on the rear of the hotel looking out towards distant hills - this was appreciated but given that the place was empty we could have perhaps been given a room on the second or third floor rather than the first. We knew in advance that the hotel was 3-star but given that it's own restaurant and bar were not open (due to low season) an option on making tea upon returning from a day of walking would have been welcome - as would our host perhaps offering to serve a beer. These opening comments may appear negative but they are left purely in the interests of providing a true, unbiased experience from which perhaps potential visitors and hosts may benefit. Overall we found the room to be sufficient for our requirements, the balcony was a welcome addition and everything was clean and tidy - in fact the room was tidied even when we had placed the 'do not disturb' sign on the door. Our host Manwell who I took to be the owner's Son was pleasant and very helpful in his attempts to explain what the local area had to offer, how to make the most of it including local buses and upon our leaving after 3 days was keen to ensure that we knew the best way to get to our next location. We would not hesitate to recommend to friends or to revisit if we can get back to this truly lovely area but I would suggest to owners that perhaps investing in tea making facilities would add to the overall experience for guests and given the location and perhaps the attraction for ramblers then perhaps the offer of a packed lunch of some description could add to the appeal. Again, this is not meant to be negative, and we do appreciate that this is a 3-star hotel not a more expensive one.

Me and my wife enjoyed our stay very much. Good food and friendly staff. We would recommend this hotel very much. Our only complaint would be that the pillows in the room are not very good at all , I would recommend you take your own.

My wife and I have just returned from a short break at Hotel Dreisonnenberg. We were greeted at the door by Manuel - I don't think I've ever received a handshake from the management when I've checked into a hotel before! As other's have said, the hotel is spotlessly clean and very, very quiet. We had one of the few rooms with double beds. It was a little strange though that the bed came equipped with two single duvets. If I were being picky, I'd say that the pillows were a bit on the useless side. The hotel provided a plentiful breakfast and we had three evening meals there too. The food was all to a very good standard. I've seen other reviews of the hotel complain about the wifi. We had no problem at all, except that it is a little slow. Given the location of the hotel, it is entirely understandable. The bottom line is that I would not have any hesitation about staying there again if I were ever to visit the area for a second time.

Just got back from a 5 day nature photography trip in Bavaria, the Dreisonnenberg was a lovely family run hotel with spotlessly clean bedrooms. The owner and his family are very friendly, only the youngest son Manuel speaks English and my German is extremely limited. I cannot find anything bad to say about this hotel it was ideal for our needs, clean comfortable rooms, a wide variety of continental breakfast offerings and interesting and unusual from an English perspective evening meals. Its location is ideal for a base to explore the Bavarian Forest National Park.

I stayed in hotel Dreisonnenberg for 4 nights and it was a very nice experience. The staff is very friendly and helpfull and want to give their guests the best service. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very good and the dinner was also very good and more than enough. It was a pleasure for me to stay there. The location is perfect.

We stayed for one night during a tour of Bavaria as the hotel is very close to Bavaria's National Park. We were welcomed by Manuel, who went out of his way to help us settle in and enjoy our stay. We ate dinner in the hotel and the vegetarian in our family was catered for even though the menu was meat based. We enjoyed after dinner drinks in the hotel grounds. Our room was spacious and clean but a little dated, especially the bathroom. The wifi did not work. Otherwise, I would give the hotel 5 stars. The real star of the place is Manuel!

Nice place family owned and managed. We got a basement apartment and it was well equipped with fridge, kitchen corner, sofa, two bedroom and a toilet. The service was good and the staff friendly. Only two negative comments, first the pillows were really way too soft for us. We know that in Germany (as well in Switzerland and in Austria) pillows are normally filled with very soft down but really we got neck pain for the whole stay. Another thing that annoyed us pretty much was the food, for us lifestyle they are using too much meat, pork sausages and fat food. Very few veggies and fruits. We understand this food style is part of their traditional culture but really at the end of the holiday we couldn't eat more cold cuts for weeks. We appreciated the free wi-fi offered to guest and the efforts of the family to make us anyhow comfortable.

I spent a week at this Hotel at the beginning of May attending a Conference in the National Park. The location is very nice and, at this time of the year, was very quiet as expected. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The staff is kind and helpful. Breakfasts were in the German style and very rich. The only thing that I could complain was that the complimentary wi-fi didn't work well, was very slow and every now and then the connection disappeared.
