Independente Comporta is a lovely hotel, with beautifully furnished rooms and villas in a tranquil setting. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa which was perfect for a family of four. We had our own private pool which was amazing. The rooms are very tastefully decorated with every detail carefully considered, from the lovely products in the bathrooms to the towelling robes to wear by the pool. The food at breakfast and dinner was delicious, and the staff were amazing: very professional, helpful and friendly. The local area is great, with a stunning beach 15 minutes away and fantastic restaurants in Comporta Village. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and would love to return.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay! The staff was very welcoming, helpful and spoke English very well. The food was DELICIOUS. Both vegetarian options and meat/fish options were really incredible. Everything was super tasty, perfectly seasoned and sourced locally. The dishes were original and I've tried things I've never had before. The paired red wine from Alentejo called "vinha do moro" was a perfect match. The breakfast options à la carte were also super tasty! Loved it. Regarding the room and the location, it was so beautiful. This little village is lost in the middle of sand fields and trees and it's so calm. All the decorations/furnitures are from the Alentejo region, and it gives the place a super chilled vibe and a great atmosphere. Our experience at the spa was also magical. The massage that I had was tailored specifically for my needs and was one of the best ones that I've ever had. The massage therapist was an angel and we had a nice tea and some time alone at the SPA's indoor pool with my partner. Such a relaxing and lovely moment. We also took the electric bikes to the rice paddies and it was such a fun experience. Overall, I would recommend anyone to go to this place if they had the chance. We can't wait to come back ❤️. Thank you everyone for this magical stay!

The architecture of the hotel is a bit too « scholar » and not well thought, everything feels at the wrong place. The reception is nearly inside the restaurant, the villas are facing the main road (very little traffic though) and access with the car is complicated due to the tiny gates at each villas. Inside the rooms the bathroom has a clear window with view to the road (no privacy) and there is virtually no outer light protection other than badly installed inner blackout shades so if you like to wake up with lots of light at sunrise, you will be served. Service is okay but not exceptional. I found the hotel a bit overpriced compared to the overall experience.

Booked this place late summer 2024 for a stay in August /September 2025 - ourselves, our parents, our children. Booked flights accordingly.
January 2025 - a message to say our booking of a 3 bed villa private pool villa was being cancelled and if we wanted, replaced with 3 double rooms. No good for our group, and obviously quite a different offering owing to lack of communal space and the private pool facility sought. First of all the hotel blamed on a "technical glitch" then "overbooking". Given I was in direct communication with the hotel at the time of booking, many months ago, as well as booking through booking.com, I thought it was abundantly clear that the hotel had decided to cancel our booking in favour of another.... The hotel did not deny this and said they would move us to "another village" with similar accommodation. But read on...
As with any booking, we spent many hours researching precisely where we wanted to stay and so the idea of being relocated at the choice of the hotel is completely unsatisfactory.
Despite chasing the hotel for details of their alternative offering, they've not bothered to get back in touch, knowing full well they've left our holiday in total disarray.
I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a few more days for a response, but in my own search for other accommodation to salvage the holiday, I now see that our villa at Independente IS in fact still available on booking.com - just at 4 times the price. The irony of this is, we would have paid the additional amount in the first place, and we're about to book something elsewhere, actually more costly than the new price they're charging.
But this place has well and truly put money before it's customers, and that's no doubt a good indicator as to the overall experience we may well have had at Independente. I sense a very lucky escape!
Book at your own risk, and think twice before booking your flights and car hire to go and stay at this place! A very shoddy, very disingenuous way to treat guests who've booked their holiday in good faith, and certainly not a hotel we'll ever consider again.
Shame on you Independente.

New hotel, with few common areas (unheated outdoor pool of relative taste), pool bar, noisy restaurant next to reception. Small indoor pool is exclusive for use by those who frequent the spa, which has a “pushy” reception and four seasons price.
During our 2 day stay: - spa was not available; - the shower drain was blocked, water reached the room, maintenance came in with filthy shoes, I felt like I was in a suspense movie while we waited in bed for the hammer blows to work; - waiter served a wine that I said was tasteless (it was the rest of the bottle and had been stored at a temperature well below the ideal temperature for a red wine), ignored my comment, served the “rest” of the bottle and when confronted with “Is this a glass?”, he replied, “yes, a glass” and left.
There are MUCH better places to stay. Do not fool yourself. If you have to stay so far from the beach, choose Spatia which is right nearby and there is no comparison as it is much better.
I'm sorry, but this is terrible value for money!

Amazing hotel, super nice and with great amenities. Just pointing out there were no chairs available in the pool. They have 20 chairs for 40 double rooms, which is not enough. Breakfast could have a larger selection. However, I recommend the hotel.

very nice complex but out of the way in the middle of nowhere, very nice staff, beautiful houses with a pool and a fantastic breakfast buffet. The houses are lovingly furnished and the beach is a 15-minute drive away. But we would book it again. Price performance is right.

Very well created space, beautiful! With excellent service, incredible food! Furthermore, it is a sustainable and environmentally friendly space! Great for resting, enjoying family moments, with an excellent location and good weather! Not forgetting the hotel's golden key is the Maroto restaurant, from the food to the very welcoming service! I strongly recommend it!

Wow what an amazing place. Breakfast bar on point, pool bar excellent, the whole resort is delicious, quiet, relaxing and great for a walk in the countryside. Wood fire oven by the pool for pizza. Excellent for couples. Beaches are not too far but need a car!

We had an amazing stay at Independente Comporta. I love the level of details from the architecture all the way to the decoration. It looks very authentic from the region. The food was amazingly good. Me and my partner are both vegetarian and during our trip through Portugal we very often had a hard time finding delicious vegetarian food. Here we had a large selection of local food that non of us had ever eaten. The local meat dishes also looked very delicious. The massage and relaxing in the Spa was really nice experience and worth the money. I do recommend a little drive with the electric bicycles. It was super fun. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall an amazing stay, will come back soon.
