This was booked as a one night stopover driving from the top of South Island (Golden Bay) to Franz. We needed a break in the journey and this was in the right spot. We booked a private cabin with all it's own facilities. The price was very reasonable. Facilities all there. There is also accommodation with shared facilities, we popped...

We booked Te Nikau based on the amazing reviews and I think the best part about this retreat is the value, but we were rather disappointed with our stay. First of all, we had booked a room in Te Ruru lodge, but upon arrival, were told that another couple was already sleeping in our room and that we would be...

Wow, this place is awesome, hard to believe it is a hostel. Nestled in the most fantastic rainforest setting was our room, hideaway cottage. We had everything we needed, including air con and wifi. Walked the Truman track to the beach for sunset which was fabulous. Reasonably priced, you must stay here.

We stayed in the hideaway lodge during our 2 night stay at Te Nikau Retreat and were not disappointed! We were nestled right in the rainforest and less then a 10 minute walk away from the beach. The lodge was not over looked and in a nice quiet spot just up from the main pathway. The hideaway came with everything...

We stayed in the hideaway cottage which was setup snugly in the bushes. The common facilities are excellent and they do have a kitchen which packs essential stuff (not free; but with reasonable donations). The beach is just a 10 minute walk away and is an excellent place to spend an evening (beware of sandflies though). The pancake rocks are...

If you visit pancake rocks, I highly recommend staying at Te Nikau retreat. It's a peaceful place set amongst the native bush very close to the beach. Such an idealic setting in such a quiet/peaceful place. Unfortunately we missed out on a cabin with a bathroom however our little cottage was warm and comfortable. The kitchen and common areas are...

I wonderful feel about the houses. They were all separated and each very different from the others. Set up was excellent. Roomy, private and surrounded by rainforest and ocean. A place you must experience.

We have been on the road now for over 5 months and Te Nikau will be one of our most memorable stays for several reasons. The location is absolutely stunning, in the middle of a forest but short walk to one of the most breathtaking beaches I have ever seen. The houses are clean, cosy & have great communal areas....

We had one night booked in the Tui room, but decided to head there a day early and it wasn't available so we switched to the new room that's above Mamuka Cottage (I can't remember the name now) for 2 nights. So glad we both extended our stay and switched to a room with a view! The studio exceeded expectations,...
