A beautiful little place to stay in the middle of rain forest. A short walk to the beach....fantastic for night photography. Lovely people and yummy homemade baking that can be purchased at very reasonable prices. Accommodation very well priced!!! Loved it.

We got a private room which was very warm and cosy and had everything we needed. The staff and woofers are awesome, helping with advice and stoking the fires. There were two smoochy cats who we hung out with. I would recommend this accommodation, and I would definitely stay there again.

There is something that truly makes this hostel so perfect. My boyfriend and I were quite unorganised and calling hostels very last minute late at night. We were not going to reach our intended destination but aimed for a hostel around Punakaiki. The man on reception (I'm sorry, I can't remember his name .. I THINK he may have been...

I got terribly sick when I was here but I never felt in better hands before! Everyone in this beautiful hostel was looking after me so lovely. They lit a fire for me and put me in a warmer room with a heater cause I was so cold. They cooked tea and dinner for me and gave me heaps of...

We really enjoyed our stay here - it was the first place we stayed in during our trip that felt like a home. The lodge was kitted out like a ski chalet (and even had a log burner). As mentioned elsewhere the rooms didn't have keys, but there was a lock on the inside of the door, so this didn't...

Incredible! Don't overlook it. The hostel is truly unique . Kate (the manager) was equally superb. Super homely feel, Te nikau lodge is outstanding! Nestled in the middle of the rainforest, it rivals the best hostels on the whole of the west coast. The atmosphere of the place, amplifies your adventure. The facilities are great! Especially after a few weeks...

We stayed in the Te Nui bungalow for one night and wished we could stay for ever. Here we rediscovered ourselves and had an absolute fantastic time. 3km from Pancake rocks and walking distance from the beach this little hide away in the forest is an absolute must

We stayed here overnight and liked it. The hostel is actually a collection of buildings on a quiet lane a 3km out of town. We stayed in Rata lodge, which is a quirky octagonal building, with dorms and a couple of rooms. The kitchen is ok, but small, and badly laid out - everything useful (fridge door, the only sink,...
