Quite a rustic place but you feel incredibly welcome when you come here. More like a B&B or cottage than a resort. However, that's what makes this place so comfortable to stay at. If you are a 5 Star kind of person, this isn't for you If you are into hiking, this is a MUST visit. A large variety of...

My husband and I travelled by motorbike and our kids followed us in the car on a trip from Durban to Sun City and back. On our return trip we booked in at Lala Nathi and we were extremely impressed with our accommodation. There were 7 of us in total, 5 adults, my son whose 11yrs and our maids daughter...

I was fortunate enough this last weekend to spend time with family and friends at this amazing place. Set high up with spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains this is a must for nature lovers. Another plus is that you can either choose to go the self catering route and stay in the Barnhouse accomodation which consists of...

What an amazing place for a relaxing weekend. The setting is incredible and being half way between Johanesburg and Durban was the perfect place for our family to meet. The Barnhouse was perfect for us. 10 adults and 11 kids and still plenty of room. We really enjoyed the walking trails and managed a 22km run around the various trails.

Stayed in the barnhouse. Stunning views, amazing walks and great accommodation. Perfect meeting spot as it is halfway between Durban and Joburg. No better spot in the berg. Will definately be coming back!

Stayed for three fabulous nights at the lodge over christmas. What can I say about this place. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The lodge itself is very tastefully furnished. Sean the manager was very friendly and helpful, always on hand should you require any information. Food was excellent. What I did like is the fact you could make your...

Amazingly relaxing! The manager made us feel very welcome and we loved our stay at the retreat! Great walks leaving from the house and lots to do indoors too. The dinner was excellent with food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend this to everyone and i would definitely go back for more that just two nights!

Awesome views of the northern Drakensberg, the dams and the valley, during the (clear) day as well as at night (plenty of small shining lights). The name retreat is well chosen: Drakensberg Mountain Retreat Vergezient is secluded but the views, the wild horses on the property, the hikes and especially the staff and management make the trip well worth it....

The restaurant looks very simple, yet the quality of food and service are very good. Staff members are friendly and professional - thanks to Violet and Sean. The ambiance generated by the neighbouring candle-lit sitting area (with sofas) and the next-door billiards room, gives you options for true relaxation. I shouldn't forget the mini-bar at the restaurant area!!! .... Pity I...

“The furniture in room 5 and 6 reminds of the kind you would buy in a pawn shop. If it is only a place to sleep for the night you need, no problem. But if you go for a romantic setting, don't expect too much.”
