I had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful, quiet hotel with superb food and lovely people on Lake Lugarno. My room was beautiful and overlooked the Lake. The delicious meals were served on the terrace overlooking the Lake. Prior to my trip, I arranged for guided hiking which was wonderful in the National Park near the hotel. I also...

We had booked for 5 nights but ended up going after just 3 due to a couple of annoyances. Firstly, the approach to dining is very regimental, with your room numbers positioned on the tables and you are gradually moved to a better view/table each day (this makes an assumption that you would want to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner...

Having read the reviews on this site, we knew that the Stella d'Italia was going to be a beautiful hotel. We were diverted in Switzerland and didn't arrive until 11pm, but had a lovely greeting from the staff and an even lovelier bottle of champagne on the terrace! Our room was large and comfortable with a small terrace overlooking the...

With all the outstanding reviews and wonderful previous experience with over 10 Karen Brown recommendations, I was thrilled to arrive at the lovely hotel, just a 30 minute drive from Lake Como in a serene location. Serene it was, beautiful it was. The staff was nice, except when the head waiter was around and/or the owner. Both could not offer...

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Since it is warm at this time of the year we found the proximity to the water very convenient (you can swim directly in front of the hotel). The location suited us well. It is nestled beside a tiny village on Lake Lugano (less crowded than the neighbouring Lake...

This is a small lakeside family run hotel on lake Lugano. The rooms overlook the lake and are quiet despite the rather disconcerting proximity to the main road. Access is via the Lugano to Managgio road that winds along the lake with barely enough room for two cars to pass in places. The food is excellent and eating is outdoors...

Having returned from Stella I have to write and say that I booked the hotel after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor - the hotel surpassed all expectations. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels around Europe but the Stella was better than all of them. From the bedroom with double French doors onto a lakeside balcony, simply delicious food...

After our hectic, overachievers' daily routine we consider Stella a calm haven where we can rest, read on the terrace or in the well appointed library, eat well, and have to do nothing more. About the third day, when we have stablized some, we will walk in the hills, maybe to Castello, a beautiful and ancient looking enclave above the...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid-May 2006 during the latter half of a hiking vacation in the Alps. If we ever return to Lugano, we will certainly stay here again. The restaurant is a destination in itself. For US$100, we enjoyed a fabulous bottle of wine, salad, pasta course, main course, and dessert/coffee....
