We had the best week at Champagne Castle, very comfortable accommodation, stunning views of the drakensberg, excellent food We loved hiking up to the Sphinx, and enjoyed sitting by the pool listening to the sound of the cooing dives!

We recently got married at Champagne Castle Hotel. We had THE most wonderful experience. From check-in, to dinner the night before, to breakfast and the wedding itself, everything was extremely professional and perfect. Lihle, Teresa and Mohammed were fantastic as far as our wedding arrangements and food went, they were so professional, accommodating and helpful, it made such a difference...

Stayed for one night in February whilst exploring the Drakensburg mountains. We wanted to hike around Monks Cowl and looked at the various accommodation on offer and so pleased we picked this place. It was such a pleasant surprise especially as we arrived at the hotel literally soaked to the skin having set off on our hike in the morning...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, chilipups The weather is not only unpredictable in these mountains, but as you experienced, it can change very quickly. There are even days where we have multiple seasons in 24 hours. You can be lying at the pool in the morning, and sitting next to a fire in the pub...

Accommodation excellent. Plenty of space and private patios, as well as private lounges. Large selection at the three buffet meals every day, but such a pity the food is always cold. Table cloths were not changed during our visit (three days), and showed stains from previous guests, plus our own stains. Not a good impression. But will still return again...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, MandR50 I apologise that the food was cold during your stay. I met with the Chef this morning to talk through your review. Our food reviews on TripAdvisor are very good, and so it's puzzling that you had this experience. We will ensure that doesn't happen again. I have also...

First impressions count and to be kept waiting right up until the minute of earliest checking was annoying. Self contained chalet for 4 was very nice but had the very basics and did not include shampoo, gowns, etc. The view was fantastic. Had a swim in the pool but then a big dog dived in for a swim!! A guided...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, John S My apologies that your check-in didn't leave you feeling positive. It's such an important part of any hotel experience. It can often taint the rest of a guest's stay, positive and negative. There shouldn't have been a dog in the pool with you. We only allow dogs into...

Not a good start as we arrived. We had booked a luxury mountain view room. We asked on check in whether we could have an upstairs room. Very gruff, unsmiling receptionist (not a good first impression for any hotel) stated it was a downstairs room. So, maybe if the sky had been clear we would have been able to see...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, Bishopburt I do apologise for your experience on check-in. We understand how important that first interaction is, and it was extremely unfortunate that this was yours. As a traveller myself I understand how this can colour the remainder of your stay. We have had an extremely wet rainy season this...

Great place to go if you are tired of cooking and washing up. Meals in the wonderful restaurant are part of the price. Fantastic buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is delicious, well presented. Views are unbelievable. Even tea and coffee mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Rooms are very comfortable and have a little private outdoor seating area.

Although there are lots of activities available hubby and I just wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our room was spacious and comfortable (luxury garden view). the buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners were very good, I tried not to eat too much but unfortunately put on weight. The hotel offers extremely good value and we will certainly return.

Apart from a brush with the beverage manager one evening, which was easily resolved, the stay was great. it is worth a return. Food was excellent. The scenery is awesome, a relaxing stay in a well run establishment.
