Went back to the VIK San Antonio as had been there in 2015 for a short break so decided to go for 5 days as a Winter break. Overall the place is not too bad but falls short of a lot of things such as being access to the mini bar and not being given a bottle of water in the room.We asked about this and found you had to pay for a pre-paid package before you could unlock the fridge. We had booked a Premium room but do not get fooled by this as basic things such as bath mats, bath robes and tissues and a kettle for a drink in the morning were not there.. We had to ask for a bath mat and bath robes and told they were in short supply but the more concerning thing was the rod that holds the shower curtain fell off on the first day on to my shoulder but we managed to put it back in fortunately. The next morning we found we were bitten by mosquitos in that my husband's hands swelled up so we mentioned this to reception and they sprayed the room with insect insecticide and put a plug in repellent for us and gave us a bottle of the insecticide to spray the room . We did this but the next day I found I was then bitten as well. They said there were no other rooms available and that was the best they could do but I found it extraordinary that there were mosquitoes in January in a hotel. I have never come across this before in Winter months only in the Spring or Summer season. It is not very good having to spray your room and having to inhale these chemicals in your room so we opened the windows to let the smell go out. The food was pretty average but the bar staff were good and the cleaners were pretty helpful to be honest. There seemed to be groups of elderly people and the entertainment was average . I am sure there are some who do not mind doing line dancing and listening to ABBA tributes but not for me. I saw the old photos of the hotel when it was first built in 1970s which was nostalgic to see and I am sure it was top class hotel in its time. Somehow seems to have lost its way and needs bit of upgrading as VIK San Antonio is in a prime location between Matagorda and Puerto del Carmen and needs this upgrading especially getting rid of the mosquitoes in the place!…
Please don’t bother booking this hotel simply because they will not be bothered by you and very happy to demonstrate that trait daily. The hotel is run by wall to wall, cold, unfriendly, two faced staff on the ground floor who’s fake greeting smile vanishes before you lose eye contact, they will totally ignore you when it comes to any issues or complaints you may have taking the stance that you are always in the wrong, they will even happily deny your facts to your face, the vegetables look taste & like they’ve been through a washing machine , the wine list is lamentably lacking in quality with many offers available in local supermarkets at a fraction of the cost and the cost of water is more than double what it should be. Some of the room cleaners were actually friendly which being so rare in the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Sooooo please don’t bother to book cos they will not be bothered by you in fact you will be interfering with their lazy day if you choose to ask a question!…
Lovely holiday in this great hotel. Location: fabulous Room with a sea view: fabulous Half board food: fabulous We spent a week here and this was our fourth/fifth visit. We were warmly welcomed and given the same room as last time. Because we’d been before we didn’t have to pay for a safe in the room, which was a bonus, although we had to pay €8 to have access to the mini bar fridge (which included some drinks - we asked for bottled water but didn’t then have to order anything else). We take our own kettle, tea & coffee so wanted somewhere to store the milk and to keep our water cold. We had a nice surprise one day when we returned to our room - we’d been left a tray with a bottle of Cava, a bottle of sparkling water and a plate of fruit with a “Welcome Back” letter from the management. A lovely gesture, much appreciated. We were pleased to see that there was a full daytime and evening entertainment programme again and it was nice to watch people on the dance floor in the evening. The atmosphere was lovely and it was great to see people enjoying themselves again. The staff at the hotel still wear masks, but that didn’t bother us as it seems to bother some people. COVID is still about, as well as lots of other coughs & colds etc., so why not protect the staff when there are lots of people about? Holidaymakers come & go but you need the staff to keep things going smoothly, so keep them safe. Thanks again to the hotel and we’ll definitely be back.…
Not great. Staff were mostly very rude. Room was ok. We overlooked the tennis court. No sun at all on balcony. The first 3 days we were there we said to reception that our air con wasn’t working. On every occasion we were told that it would be looked at. Eventually we gave up and left balcony door open. We chose to have lunch instead of dinner (we were half board). Food was cold and wasn’t sat out a bit too long. Wi-Fi was the worst we’ve ever experienced. The pools were clean. Very cold though. Location is fab. Definitely not worth what we paid. Will stick to the Riu Parasio.
just returned from a 2 week stay at the vik our 2nd time here the 1st being 2017. Nothing much has changed , food in dining room still cold, constant checking of card for everything ,drink, meal ,coffee etc wristband would be so much easier! Men being asked to leave restaurant at evening meal if wearing shorts of any type, yet females waltzing in in scruffy denim shorts,or shorts resembling not much more than a thong!! Really?? Pool close on freezing,no wifi in room! Anthony at pool bar luvly. Don't think there will be a third time for us the vik unfortunately.
It was our first visit to San Antonio Hotel Puerto del Carmen last week. Overall I would say a very good experience... Reception Staff and Concierge were excellent. Very clean.overall. plenty supplies. However the buffet food was cold and the dinners were very cold so that was disappointing. The waiting staff in the restaurant, bar and pool bar were very rude and unfriendly. The wait staff in the restaurant hardly gave a chance to put the knife and fork down and then swoop in to take the plates straight away. One man in particular was very rude and carried on a conversation over our heads. The pool.bar staff leave alot to be desired they were so unfriendly and rude they made us feel like we were more an annoyance than paying guests. This would really need to be improved on before I could recommend to .friends. …
Transfer to the hotel from the airport was quick. The hotel is situated on the beach. There is a very regular bus service from the bus stop across the road. 5 euros gets you right to the harbour in a taxi. The busy promenade has plenty of great restaurants and shops galore. The resort in December is busy. The hotel is older and spanish style. The rooms are mostly sea view, with some side sea view- so do not be fooled by premiums. The food was good. The occasion of Christmas day dinner was arranged to be grand- but failed abysmally. Queues in a packed stairway for dinner was not organisation. The manager had days to prepare, and dutifully took seating times and arrangement - yet still managed to be over crowded. Signing for every drink was a bit tedious. However, congratulations on the champagne 🍾 breakfasts available to all every day of this holiday (21). Hand gel is supplied at the restaurant door- but I personally observed very little people using it- and it was really busy. The sauna was open and rarely used. The disabled toilet was not available as unsure how to access without a key- room key did not work. The hotel is old but clean. The limited range of cocktails- one special - which is overloaded with alcohol. Therefore this reflects the fact that if you pay for all inclusive this service has been reduced- perhaps to reflect rising costs. However, I wonder if it could not be just as easy to source cheaper alternatives so as not to lose the service you expect in all inclusive. Possibly better management of the whole experience. The entertainment was not the best. The programme was repeated on the two week loop. The rooms were clean, although the digital TV was of no use to anyone as Internet was not available in the rooms. The tv did work for local tv. The Internet was intermittent- often not working. The sauna was open to everyone every day. The clientele is older- unsure if this is time of year- but the entertainment programme reflects this. The entertainment was repetitive- therefore I would suggest that it be reviewed with a view to making it more reflective of every age groups needs. Children's entertainment in with the adults as a pretext- the children have their very own area during day time activities. Plastic chairs in a very hot room- are uncomfortable. Perhaps this could be fixed. People who complained about the heat got doors open, then older people closed them as they were cold- and of the majority. I am editing my original review, but only to include things I missed. The pool is seawater, and cold but lovely. A programme of aerobics, and sports entertainment throughout the day. The waiting staff may require training, several times a drink was pourred leaning over the food on the table- it was brought to the attention of the restaurant manager. This hotel is situated with the aim of getting a beautiful view over the sea which did not disappoint. Some of the carpet on the floor is in need of replacing it was discoloured and worn. Lift access to all floors. The holiday was relaxing. However, some of these points need to be addressed because people like myself have waited 3years for a holiday- the cost is really high, therefore the services provided should reflect the travellers needs. …
Very clean hotel fab, comfy beds, friendly staff, decent food, we liked eating out at night it was great u could switch evening meal for lunch, which was very good. I requested a room similar floor from when we stayed in June great service as we were only 4 rooms away from our original room 10/10 for me. Looking to go back January 2024 for 3 weeks 😎
Spent Christmas and New Year at this Hotel. The Gala Dinners at Christmas and New Year were outstanding. The entertainment most evenings was quite good. Changing facilities at Pool Side, Sauna and Gym non existing. Beds not very comfortable and blankets rather than duvets. The most worrying thing was Cockroaches in the Bathroom also evident in Dining room and in downstairs corridor near the pool.
We spent 9 nights at the Vik San Antonio in December on a half board basis. It was a lovely hotel. The rooms were bright and cleaned every day with the safe and fridge provided very welcome. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The entertainment programme both day and evening was a bonus. The food was very nice, cooked and displayed well. It would be nice to see more fish as a Main Course option. One comment might be that the sauna might be regulated a bit better and any people discouraged from monopolising it. Separately, the sign at the entrance indicates that only one person should use it at a time and while this was understandable during Covid restrictions maybe it could be reviewed. We hope to visit the Vik San Antonio Hotel again and have spoken to many friends about it and encouraged them to look at it for their Lanzarote holiday.…
