We had a wonderful stay at this hotel recently. The hotel is beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times - I mentioned to the restaurant manager at breakfast one morning that the cava they serve in the hotel is one of my favorites, and lo and behold we came back to our room that evening to find he had sent us a bottle (despite the hotel already haven given us a complimentary bottle on arrival earlier that week!). This was just one of the may little things I felt sets this hotel apart. We enjoyed the food at breakfast each morning and the drinks and entertainment in Kentia on a couple of evenings (excellent cocktails!). There were always plenty of sun loungers available - no matter the time of day and the hotel did seem quite full. If I had one small criticism it would be that I expected the pool to be heated given it was November - but many other guests seemed to be enjoying it, even if it was too cold for me! We will definitely return in the future and look forward to it.

Came here for some winter sun and a "babymoon" - so chose somewhere quite luxury. As we booked last minute we had no options on rooms but when we arrived and checked in it seemed like we had been upgraded (room 202) as had a separate living room which we were very please about. Breakfast was fab, would love to return when I can have all the cava and ham!! Pool area was great, loved the different areas. Food around the pool was nice and well priced. Staff all very friendly and attentive. Liked the free daily water and free mini bar (first fill). 4 pods of coffee does seem a little tight, fine for us only being there 4 days and me not drinking caffeine but if we were there longer in a normal capacity it wouldn't have been enough. If you want a late check out it's €30 or €60 dependant on time but they do have a complimentary shower room you can use (which we did). Only negative was the restaurant (see other review) but rest we really enjoyed! Would definitely recommend.

We booked this hotel for 6 nights in October 2020 having read some very favourable online reviews and we were not disappointed!

From start to finish we enjoyed our stay here immensely. The hotel is a short taxi ride from the airport. Check-in was very quick and efficient and the reception staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful.

Our room was spacious with It’s own private terrace and was spotlessly clean. This was maintained daily throughout our stay.

Breakfast is buffet style for cold food with a menu for hot food. The staff were very attentive and efficient. We ate lunch generally in the pool bar which again was very good and reasonably priced. We did eat once at the Kentia Gourmet club and opted for the tasting menu which was outstanding. We paired our meal with the recommended wine flight. Our waitress was very informative about both the food and the wine pairing (we have actually bought some of the wine to take home!). The only reason we didn’t eat more at the hotel was because we wanted to explore some of the other local restaurants in the area of which there are many within walking distance around the Old Harbour area.

One thing to point out in the current climate is how safe we felt with the hotel’s approach to Covid19. Everyone wears masks unless they are seated at a table eating or drinking and hand sanitising stations are in plentiful supply throughout the hotel. Commonly used areas eg handrails, doors etc are cleaned regularly so we felt very safe here indeed.

On a final note, we could not finish without mentioning the staff at the hotel who really did make our stay so special. It’s not an exaggeration to say that every member of staff we encountered could not have been more helpful it attentive. For us, this is what really made our stay so special and why we really hope to return again. If you are looking for a nice treat, stay at La Isla Y El Mar, you will not be disappointed!

What a fabulous hotel from the moment we walked in the door. They were so welcoming, a glass of cava and hot fascial towels at reception, a lovely room not a brilliant view but was open and plants outside. All rooms are set in private type areas so no one really overlooks you. In room we recieved a very useful hessian shopping bag and some chocolates and when we came back from our first meal we had a chilled bottle of cava and more choclates. Lovely treat. Thank you. Restaurant is buffet style and plenty to choose from. There is a gourmet restaurant but we did not try it, looks amazing though. Pool area very nice, cooler chill out area with double bed loungers very nice. Late afternoon, waiter comes round with fruit on sticks, again lovely treat. Not far to walk to old and new town but there is a very steep hill, but buses are very good right nearby if needed. Hotel could not do enough for you, everybody very friendly. Will definetly use again. Only let down was the spa area, you had to pay to use steam and sauna and was very restricted on times available and you could only stay an hour. Thought it was expensive.

We arrived on the back of the Calima luckily landing minutes before the airport was closed! Needless to say the hotel was looking sad despite the staff’s best efforts to clean up.

It took a good 48 hours to settle in. The staff seemed a little preoccupied with one thing and another and there was no “zing” about the place.

Anyway by our second full day things seemed to change. Off down the pool and wow! It’s one of nicest pool areas we’ve ever been to. Immaculately clean, the pool is constantly monitored by the maintenance guys and the surrounding sun beds etc are super comfortable.

Pool side bar is adequate space wise and there is waiter service to your sunbed. I loved this! You have your own buzzer and they come straight away to take drinks and food orders.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic and work tirelessly and cheerfully. They need more help though. Management take note. Please give your lovely staff an extra pair of hands down there!

Suites are exceptionally spacious and the sleep quality excellent. Housekeeping came late in the day which is unusual but the high standard of cleanliness counteracts the mild inconvenience.

Food is good. You would need to be super fussy not to enjoy something. We stayed half board which is reasonable value for money if booked at the right price.

The evening cocktail bar is a delight and a huge asset to the hotel. The interior design is beautiful and service excellent. Drinks are reasonable value for the surroundings and there is evening entertainment a few nights. Eric on Saturday was exceptionally good at keeping the crowd engaged. Well done! We had a great last night.

Having started the holiday with doubts I have to say I now absolutely love this hotel and we will be returning. It really grows on you and we had a fabulous week. Well done to all the very hardworking staff!

We had a great Christmas break at this lovely hotel. The hotel layout is rather unusual but seems to cater well for wheelchair users as the walkways are all comprised of ramps. Some of the rooms are a little distance from reception and the restaurant. Housekeeping standards are excellent and the buffet restaurant management is second to none with food checked andreplenished regularly. The buffet offered lots of choice. The management team are always in evidence and the young lady in particular was extremely proactive, checking there were no problems and constantly ensuring everything was up to standard. Our room was lovely with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom and sitting room.
Nowhere is perfect and I had a few issues - the pool was too cold apart from one day; we didn't have hot water in the shower on two mornings; I would have liked a dressing table with a mirror. For these reasons I couldn't give a rating of five, but the hotel merits more than four!
Turning to the town, Puerto Del Carmen is pretty grim in places with cheap, mainly Irish, bars and souvenir shops. This improves around the harbour and beach where there are some better quality restaurants. The busy roads down from the hotel to the town are fairly steep. We enjoyed the short ferry ride to Puerto Calero at 8 euros for a single trip and found some nice shops and restaurants but not much else.

This is a really lovely hotel and we cannot recommend it highly enough. It is well cleaned and maintained, especially in these uncertain times. The staff are very friendly and obliging. Both restaurants, Gourmet and Buffet, are well managed and the food is fresh and tasty with a good selection to suit most palates.
The policy of removing towels and belongings placed on unused sunbeds is to be commended. Our class8c suite was extremely nice. Extra touches such as free water every day, Nespresso pods replaced every day, a kettle with tea bags and milk capsules, complementary soft drinks in the fridge to start with, lovely toiletries, replenished each day. All in all, despite the restrictions imposed at the end of our stay, we loved it and will return.

Beautiful hotel and grounds overlooking the Old Town in PDC. The staff all work well together and ensure your visit is perfect. David at the pool bar and Daniela pops up In the restaurant, bar and pool bar to make sure your holiday is perfect. The views from the terrace are stunning as is the pool - just don’t dive in as it’s fairly shallow. The rooms are of a very high standard and the housekeeping staff work tirelessly to ensure they are as close to perfect as can be. Breakfast is very good with multiple choices, the restaurant is fine but just short of perfect, lower mood lighting and some music would deliver a better venue.
The Covid protocols are correctly and fairly enforced and numerous sanitisation points where you would expect them.
I’d highly recommend this hotel and we will return.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, outstanding everything from initial impression to leaving, check in quick & informative, super room, we had a classic suite. Extremely comfortable bed, air con that actually worked, safe, lovely big bathroom, great breakfast. All staff were exceptional & the customer service is excellent.
The pool isn’t huge but perfectly adequate & more importantly heated pool & there are plenty of sunbeds but as everywhere there are early morning bed blockers. The staff do remove towels & other items left on the beds but leave them on the side table. Other people looking for beds tend not to use these in case the ones who originally reserved the beds accuse them of moving their things. Other hotels I have visited remove everything & either take to reception or leave in pool bar. A bit of a niggle getting clean pool towels, reception told us to leave them in the rooms & the cleaner would exchange but most days we were using them when the cleaner did the room. One day we were going out so left them but although they were taken no replacement was left (so we had to ask reception.for new towels).
Location is great & if you don’t want to walk local buses stop a minute’s walk away & taxis back up the hill are cheap.
We had a great time, would definitely recommend & return here.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The decor is lovely and rooms are very spacious and clean. The cleaners are very friendly. The receptionist and staff in the bar were always happy to help. Pool area is nice, with comfy loungers. The pillows in the bedroom aren’t every comfortable though.
The reason why I have given this hotel 4 stars is because the director of the hotel wasn’t very accommodating. One evening, my partner and I had taken a walk down to the port for a drink and decided to walk back and eat at the hotel. Being 6 months pregnant this option seemed better for me so I didn’t have to take on the huge hill after eating. Plus the restaurant looked lovely. After looking at the menu, there wasn’t much that I could eat. We asked reception if it would be possible to eat from the pool/room service menu in the restaurant (my husband was ok to eat from the restaurant menu) and the receptionist called 3 different people to get an answer, the third being the director who simply said no! We were told we can eat it in our room but We didn’t want to eat in our room, We didn’t want to eat in the room and my partner wanted to enjoy a nice cold pint with his dinner with some nice atmosphere .. so we had no choice but to end up walking back towards the port which is down the huge hill. Which is a shame as we didn’t get to experience the main restaurant after we really enjoyed the cocktail bar. We found this very disappointing from the hotel director, it’s not like we had asked to bring food in to the hotel. It’s a shame because being told no from the director showed us they don’t value their customers.

I don’t think so as the weather tends to be between 20-30 degrees all year round. We went in April and it felt fresh in the pool but you wouldn’t want it much warmer. BTW - the pool isn’t really for proper swimming, it’s more for having a dip .

Every single room is stunning and the service from staff is five star. Personally I would save the money, enjoy the classic suite (which is amazing) and treat yourselves to a meal in the fabulous onsite restaurant and some cocktails by moonlight in the beautiful hotel bar. Spoil yourselves with more than a room upgrade in such a stunning location.

We are in our 50s and don't give a damn if we fit in or not - we go for the fabulous location, the beautiful setting and the 5 star accommodation. There for a holiday not a talent contest. There is a fantastic poolside bar but you are right in the middle of so many excellent eateries it's no hardship to find lunch anywhere.
