Ca’Vecchia came highly recommended from family who lives in the area. We loved it. The hotel is very charming, quiet and comfortable and feels like you’re staying in a home. Not a lot of frills but it has everything you need. They have a great European style breakfast in the morning and another restaurant on the property. Our experience was great.
We were staying at the Ca Vecchia while walking on the Via degli Dei. The hotel is in lovely grounds but the facilities are basic, comprising a bathroom and a relatively old double bed. It is what you got used to if you travelled in Italy thirty years ago and stayed in three star hotels. The major disappointment is that having arrived at the hotel at around 7 on a Monday evening we discovered that the restaurant is closed on Mondays! This is inconvenient as the walk back to town was more than we wanted to undertake having already walked 20 kilometers during the day. The staff were very kind and cooked frozen pizza for us (washed down with some fine wine), so full marks for the service from the people at the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was OK, but the absence of fresh bread was notable (surely a local bakery could deliver on a Tuesday morning)…
We had flown into Florence overnight and were looking for a spot to rest on our drive to Lake Como. Ca Vecchia is about an hour north of Florence, just south of Bologna. In spite of GPS navigation and directions from the hotel website, we had to ask for directions. The hotel is located in a nicely treed area and offered what we were most looking for; a quiet retreat. The rooms were spread in several buildings. Our room was large, but relatively sparsely furnished. This was not a problem as we just stayed overnight. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower were satisfactory. A small problem could have been that the parking area was some distance from the accommodation. The included breakfast was very good. Served in a sunny breakfast room. There was a good selection of meat, cheese, and bakery goods. There was a particularly good selection of pastries. Of note, was a selection of gluten-free choices. Another advantage for us was that there is an on-site restaurant at which we had a pleasant dinner. Overall, Ca Vecchia was just what we were looking for, a quiet, comfortable, reasonably-priced "pit-stop".…
Great spot in an arboretum of mature trees, with friendly helpful staff, excellent food, (even breakfast!) large conference facilities, great rooms. Highly recommended. Thank you for taking such good care of us all.
Hotel is hidden in a nice park with the kids playground, in distance from the main street. There is one small and one bigger park places, hotel guests use the small one with a little tricky turn just after the gate. Small problem for me was to identify what doors are to the reception - it was the second house, where the breakfast is served too. Friendly reception staff show me a big room with bathroom. It was equipped with nice furniture, air condition and WiFi access. Window shutters are useful as frequent highway and railway are near the hotel, but there was not so noise as from the main street in my Bologna last stay. Breakfast was of the average quality with excellent Italian espresso. Good quality keenly priced, suitable solution if you are travelling by car.
