The Porto Zante prides itself on being the most exclusive and private resort in Europe. While that might true its exclusivity means that the guests themselves are also, sometimes, excluded. Let’s start with the positives: The Villas The villas are truly spectacular. Private, immaculate, comfortable. The service is highly attentive and tries to anticipate the guests’ needs. The villas are serviced as soon as you are out of them and made ready to welcome you back. The private pool is heated and well maintained. Inflatables are available for all ages. Reception The 3 ladies running the reception are very kind and attentive. They are very friendly. They are also your best bet on coordinating things. Everything that we’ve asked for was done almost immediately. The Beach The beach is very small and narrow and from time to time will also vanish under water. It is serviced by a dedicated person (a very friendly young lady from Georgia) who is really doing her best to make sure that everyone is having a nice time. There are canoes available for taking out to sea, for both kids and adults. There’s a kids version of a jet ski and beach toys. The hotel will also ‘surprise’ you at the beach with some very nice drinks and refreshments, so you can really just unwind and spend the whole day there. The Cocktails Despite their steep price, the cocktails are really some of the best we’ve had. Very unique creations with high quality ingredients and no shortcuts. The Kids Club The kids club is quite small, but well equipped with toys, board games, painting and crafting materials. However, it seems to be a place for preschoolers more than older kids. The rides on the small playground are also aimed towards preschool size kids. However, there’s also table tennis for older kids (and adults). The Not So Positive Access to the Resort The resort lies at the bottom of a narrow 200m dirt road with no signs leading to it. Most map Apps will find it, but some car sat-navs (like TomTom) do not. The resort does not allow their own guests to be picked up inside the resort by taxis and other car services. Hence, you’ll probably have to walk up to the main road yourself as cars do not want to drive down the dirt road without being allowed in to u-turn inside the resort. U-turning on the dirt road for bigger cars is virtually impossible. This seems to be an on going issue with this resort, but they don’t seem to want to address it in a way that will stop making their own guests feel excluded from their own exclusive vacation. Restaurants and Food In a nutshell, too expensive for what it is, even for this level of resort. What we did have there was very good but just not worth the money. If this resort is looking for fair pricing it ought to slash its prices by around 25-30% to bring them in line with other outlets of this level. Moreover, the children menu is outrageously overpriced! €15 for a bit of pasta with tomato sauce…!? Service at Restaurants In a nutshell, quite pushy and stuck in a limbo between casual and fine dining. They are all too quick to open €9/12 bottles of water for you (without being asked). We just hope that the hotel is using some of these costs to off set the carbon footprint of serving imported Aqua Panna and Fiji Water, in a county where local bottles water is produced in abundance. The elderly chap at the restaurant… as far as we were concerned, he was the weakest link. Firstly, he ought to settle on his character. Is he the maître d’ or the loveable Greek uncle you never knew you had. Because for the maître d’ he is not knowledgeable enough (trying to pass on a €120 wine bottle as an ‘exclusive’ which can actually be found online for €15 (currently £9.5 at ASDA online). And, as for the loveable uncle, he is far too pushy. Very eager to an ice cream scoop to your €32 crepe for an additional charge of €6, without alerting you to the costs! His tag line ‘this is honey - real honey!’, ‘this coffee, real coffee!’, get old very quickly. Does he honestly believe that people who are paying this resort’s rates have never had ‘real’ honey or ‘real’ coffee. Regardless of all of his colliery remarks, one remark felt particularly out of place. On our first evening he pointed out a site-seeing boat and said: ‘it’s a covid ship…! Too many people… they will all catch covid [LOL].’ Judging by the fact that one of the bars on the island is called ‘Covid Therapy’, it seems that the islanders are truly over the whole affair. And yet, such remarks and ill wishes upon your fellow men are best left unsaid, especially if one fancies himself as being happy to work in hospitality for well over 30 years. To be perfectly honest, we avoided the restaurant when he was there. We wanted to enjoy our meals without being pushed into ‘real’ things. Maybe his style works for other guests, but not for us. The Breakfast This is the weakest point of this whole place and frankly an embarrassment. All Greek hotels we’ve stayed at so far have tried their best to flash out the local ingredients and cuisine and incorporate them into their breakfast. But not here. The Porto Zante Breakfast does not have a single fresh item on it (bar the juices). It consists on frozen baked goods warmed before serving, cereal, yoghurt and hot drinks. Everything else is an ‘add on’ and is far too pricy. Of course, this did not stop the elderly chap at the restaurant to try and sell the breakfast as ‘freshly bakes’ which further brings his credibility into question. As said, we tried to avoid him as best we could, ordering the breakfast to the villa instead of having at the restaurant. Conclusion If a very exclusive, secluded and private vacation (to the point that you might not even meet anyone else who is staying at the resort for days) is your thing, then Porto Zante is the place for you. Just be ready to withstand the steep food prices and small beach.

Perfect experience from the moment we entered the establishment. If you are used to fine dining (Michelin stars quality ) and customized service, this is the place where you need to go. The staff is kind, gentle and professional. The wine suggestion was very good and spot on. The sommelier made us discover and exquisite Greek wine. The variety and the freshness and the quality of the food was what we look for. Every dish was unique. Add to that the scenery and breath taking view. You won’t be disappointed with the wine list offering from Greek to international wine and the spirits variety. The chef came to check on us as well and spent a good 10 minutes asking us about our feedback on the dishes. The quality of the food is a pure reflection of the chef international experience and background. I would go back again.

Our holiday was perfect. The hotel could not have done more to make our stay better. Porto Zante is the perfect combination of total privacy and first class service. George in the restaurant was great - he does not understand the word no….. in his own words “whatever you want” ….. and he means it!

This place is amazing. It’s like a hidden treasure. My daughter and I have just returned from a week in one of the villas here for a special birthday. Total relaxation, privacy and top notch service. Not like anywhere we’ve stayed before you’d think you had the entire place to yourself as there are only 9 villas in total so you rarely see other guests which I liked. Such amazing staff run this entire place seamlessly and are each a credit to Porto Zante. The Beauty of this place is that’s it’s away from the crowds so if you want to have a walk out to places every day it’s not really for you but don’t let that worry you too much as staff are more than obliging to organise a car to drop you wherever you need and return later to collect you. We went to Town several times on an evening and it was no trouble for a car to drop us and return later. We ate in both restaurants at Porto Zante during our stay which were fantastic and we also had food brought to eat in the villa, again nothing was any trouble. Superb private beach with dedicated loungers for each villa and paddle boards/canoes available to use in the safe bay there. Crystal clear waters and gorgeous views across to Kefalonia. The villas are only a short 15-20mins from Zante airport which is always a bonus. This was our first time in Greece but wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you everyone at Porto Zante for an amazing experience

Following dining at the Maya resturant midweek, we provided the waiter with a business card for a local taxi to return to our villa. The waiter returned stating that they would use their hotel transport and that we would not need the taxi. Shortly after leaving the resort the driver recieved a call from the resort and we were told that we could not be taken to our destination and were dumped at the road side less than two miles from the resort. This was all after paying over 600 euros for dinner, my wife and I were shocked and stunned at this treatment, hardly what you would call 5* treatment We then waited over half an hour trying to source anothe taxi to complete our journey. The following morning the manager, Manolis, called offering apologies stating that our treatment was 'unexpectable' and 'embarrassing' for the resort. He offered us a complimentary dinner at the their expense to make amends. We accepted this offer and cancelled our previous dinner plans for that night only to have Manolis call us and explain the resturant was fully booked and he could not offer us any reservation. So now we are left with no reservation for any resturant (in the peak of the busiest time on the island). Manolis finished our conversation by saying the next time we come to the island they would try to get us into their restaurant - NEXT TIME?? Not good enough. Disgraceful treatment and broken promises, Very poor indeed.

As much as I’d like to keep Porto Zante a secret for selfish reasons, I have to rave rave rave about this hotel! It is unlike any other and I’ve been to many. After driving down a very unassuming dirt road you drive through 2 large doors and come upon a hidden gem overlooking the Ionian Sea with lush foliage everywhere. The villas are spectacular and private, all with their own large dipping pools. The setting, the food, the accommodations, the spa, and most importantly, the service are all beyond expectations. Even with all of that, it’s the staff at Porto Zante that takes your stay to a whole new level. We can’t wait to go back!!

Beautiful place, superb facilities but most importantly this is a place with real heart. Almost feels like you’re staying in a friend’s magnificent guest quarters - you have complete privacy but great company if and when you want it from a wonderful cast of characters including the human dynamo,Panagiotta, and the effervescent Mr George. Intuitive and discreet service from ever-smiling energetic people whose motto is ‘there is no such word as no’! They truly seem to read your mind! The spa is tiny but perfect as it opens directly into the sea with top notch therapists who really know what they’re doing - it’s impossible not to relax completely with the sound of the sea crashing onto the shore below. Our private pool was heated to exactly the right temperature and our garden was fragrant with beautiful bright coloured flowers. Zakynthos is a magnificent island and our day trip by private yacht to view it from the sea was unforgettable. If you’re looking for total privacy and absolute relaxation then this is the place for you!

Porto Zante delivers a stress-free and memorable experience from the welcoming and talented staff onsite, delicious fine dining and beautiful villa grounds that are very residential and generous in size. The discreet nature of the location and quiet nature of this part of the island marks a beautiful secret that only a lucky few get a chance to experience.

From the moment we arrived at Porto Zante, for a week, we were welcomed with fizz and fruit in our villa. The villa was heavenly, wonderful views, comfortable bed, spacious and very private. It was great to lie in bed and see the sun come up over the sea. The food at the two restaurants was excellent and we enjoyed getting breakfast in our villa. A highlight for us was the private yacht excursion around the island. The staff are ready and eager to arrange any trips out you might want. The spa massages were amazing. The beach directly below the villas was a treat too, especially when the sea was very calm. The only drawback for us was that we could not easily walk anywhere directly from the villas but when everything else is so wonderful it did not detract from the most relaxing and luxurious holiday. Thank you to all the lovely Porto Zante staff!
