Stayed 2 nights. Things I liked Reception staff, and the lady that catered at breakfast were friendly and accommodating. The room was of a decent size and the bed was 6/10 for comfort so not bad all in all. The shower was really powerful. Parking was free on-site and only seconds from the reception door which is always handy when you're lugging bags. Things I didn't like Continental breakfast wasn't really continental. Just toast and cereal really. The coffee at breakfast horrible, almost like understrength instant coffee. The pool staff were grumpy. Children weren't allowed in the pool before 10am or after 5pm. It before 10, before you head out for the day, or after 5, when you get back, that you could ideally go for a swim with the kids. That rule is counter productive for families that stay here, or certainly was for us. Poor housekeeping let the room down too. Just more attention to detail when cleaning is definately required.

Attended a wedding at the Oriel Hotel in October. The place looks a little shabby from the outside and needs a little attention but once you cross the threshold it changes. The ambience was very nice and the staff excellent. The food was second to none and catered without any fuss for vegetarians and those with food allergies. the restaurants and lounges where clean and comfortable and bars had a good choice of drinks at sensible prices. Would happily visit again and recommend.

This hotel is tired and run down. We were in room 215 to the front of the hotel which faces onto the busy road outside. We asked the receptionist if we could have a quieter room without traffic and we’re told the rooms on the other side of the hotel were their luxury room, I didn’t know it was a luxury to have a quiet room ! The bed was very very hard after not much sleep I woke up with a very sore back. The sauna was out of order. The one and only thing we liked about this hotel was the lovely lady who served us a very decent breakfast. The receptionist should retrain, no directions to our room, did not point out spa area or where to have breakfast, very unprofessional.. wouldn’t stay in this hotel again or recommend.
