We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. It was the site of my 60th Birthday and the staff went out of their way to make the evening memorable. In fact, they baked a cake and served it to us and our other tour comrades, 6 in all. Nice Bar great atmosphere. But the bed was awful! The...

We are English couple who booked a weekend at the Hotel for San Martinho. From making the reservation to leaving the staff were very helpful and everything went smoothly. We don't speak much Portuguese and got lost English route to the hotel but the lady at reception guided us in by phone. The building is lovely with lots of charm...

We stayed here as one of our stops on a six day tour of northern Portugal. It was the last hotel on the tour and was definitely the oldest one. It was about 100 years old and out in the middle of nowhere. There was a lovely drive up appeal and a beautiful pool. The gardens are a little overgrown...

We stayed here as part of a tour in November. The fabulous entrance hall with the welcoming log fire was rich and inviting. The chintz bedrooms were comfortable and suited the style of the Manor House. For those travelers who considered the decor old-fashioned, IKEA would be bizarre in such a setting. The whole atmosphere is tasteful, warm and comforting....

I myself have always been a firm defender of the Portuguese Country House, but have always dwell in such houses as Chatsworth, Highclere Castle or, in Portugal, in my GrandParents own country House, Rachel Hall. That being said, I do adore a certain style of decoration, service, gardens layout and I did find it here, in this so British Hotel...

It may not have the amenities commensurate with its star rating, but the property is gorgeous, as is the setting in the mountain forests of central Portugal. It's comfortable enough, and the grounds are spectacular. There's something special about this place. And the management is bit more energetic than in many similar places in Portugal.

We stayed here on a tour of Portugal. The hotel is located in a hidden away place. Was a hunting lodge. Pool is amazing especially on a hot day. The rooms are small the beds squeak and there are few amenities in the room. We had dinner in the hotel and the though the views were great the food was...

This is a beautiful hotel, in a lovely setting, but on arrival in reception it quickly becomes apparent that it is stuck in time and somehow has lost its sense of modern needs. Firstly the bed mattress was creaky and very small. Anyone who is a light sleeper will have an awful night...needless to say, I struggled, with all soft...

The hotel was built in the 1930's (if my memory doesn't fail me), by an English businessman. The building is beautiful, in the middle of a field. The rooms are spacious and have a great view over the property. The restaurant is excellent, with very good menus and real sophisticated food (and not expensive). I missed a sauna or a...

This was the second hotel on our tour and we stayed here for 3 nights. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel but doesn’t really merit more than 3. That said, there are a lot of good things about the hotel. The public areas are nicely decorated with colonial style furniture and the dining room is particularly nice with...
