The Mediterranean breakfast is great value and also I can recommend the menu of the day. Good food at very good prices. The staff are very friendly and the service is probably the best you get in Spain. A good place to stay and start your visit to Ardales.

I would say the people who work at Hostal El Cruce were very nice but that is where the good experience ends. We were shown to our room, 2 twin beds with frayed bedspreads, a wardrobe for our clothing that wouldn't stay closed so they had put a hook and eye lock on it, and a fairly dirty bathroom but the worst part was the smell in the room. It smelled like strong moth balls. I would not stay here again.

We chose this place because it is very near to the Caminito del Rey, only about a 10-15 minute drive to the start of the Caminito and the Guadalhorce Reservoir and the other scenic attractions. Our room was very clean and we had a great sleep. We ate lunch twice at El Cruce, the home-cooked meals are very good. Their home-made desserts are fantastic. We are so thankful to Miguel, the owner, he was able to reserve an entry for us to Caminito del Rey. We were flying home to Canada the next morning, and had only one opportunity to walk the Caminito. It was the most spectacular hike and we say a BIG thank you to Miguel. El Cruce Hostal is the most convenient location for visiting the Ardales region, and we highly recommend staying here. If we can return to Andalusia next year, we will return to El Cruce.

I used this hotel while cycling the Trans Andalus. It is situated just out of the village but Ardales is very small, so you can reach the plaza by foot in 5 mins (note that the address stated here is not accurate-it is next to the bridge between Ardales and the main road). The room was simple but comfortable - en suite and TV. Very cheap and staff are friendly. There is a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and supper downstairs. I was allowed to store my bicycle inside. Very much recommend, plus the area and village are beautiful - some rooms have balconies with great views.
