We were travelling to Devon with our daughter and stopped off at the Stapleton Arms for bed, breakfast and evening meal. The rooms(1&2) were spacious and immaculateily clean. Our bed was very low but incredibly comfortable, which is often the bugbear of staying in hotels and B&Bs! The Inn is in a quiet village and although our room was in...

We tried this for the first time although we live close by and had not been before. The bar is nicely done with a slate /flag floor and a scattering of couches and tables. The beer was good Doom Bar. Three of us had supper, two had beef blade cooked in red wine for 8 hours and one had linguinie...

I hadn't been here for ages and now wish I had. Lovely mid week lunch for four. All freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Really good 'proper' chips. Very generous helpings. The menu is quite limited but I would prefer that anyway and there was nothing overly challenging. Definitely recommend the chocolate mousse thing for pud. Good and friendly service. Overall...

Decent pub, nice range of beers, wine and food. Bar snacks include pork pies and chutney. But the beer garden is being abused by selfish dog owners who allow their dogs to mess everywhere. First sunny weekend of the year and I lost count of the amount of mess in the garden. For sure the responsibility of the dog owners...

Visited today for the third time, for Sunday lunch, not much to say other than fantastic food, great service and hospitality, we really enjoyed it. All the staff are very good and it's great to visit a country pub where you are welcomed with a lovely fire. The Sunday roast was a choice of Lamb of Beef, there were other...

As a regular, the issue for The Stapleton has been lack of consistency with the food; endless poor menus badly executed cooking with unmotivated temporary staff; however since November there has been a change of management and with it quite a big improvement in the food; had lunch here last week and dinner more recently; for mid-week lunch we were...

This used to be the best pub in the area, but it's really gone down hill recently. No kids' menu anymore, the pub's cold, and the food is nowhere near as good as it was. Even the chips were bad. Such a shame. This pub had it nailed, perfect for locals and visitors. Now it doesn't seem to know what...

First visit to the pub, we ordered our drinks at the bar and were shown into the restaurant for our meal. We were surprised to find that on a cold January day that we had to ask to put the heating on in the restaurant room. They said no problem we will put the heating on, when the food arrived...

Had booked for dinner at 7.30pm. Restaurant was never more than half full but took an hour for our meals to appear. When they did they were all delicious. Just a shame such excellent cooking is let down by poor service. And next time, if you need to replace an element that’s featured on the menu in a dish, let...

We were family meeting from all points east and west, the staff were accommodating, patient, helpful and efficient. The food was delicious, promptly served, well cooked and well sourced. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requirements were met with equilibrium and grace. It was exceptionally busy but delightful! Highly recommended.
