Had dinner at the Blue Marlin Resort and was not impressed. They recommend 3-4 hours notice for reservations and charge $35 USD per plate. We were served a chicken drumstick with rice and beans and a small amount of potato salad and finished with a small bowl of ice cream. The

Thank you for choosing to island dine with us on your one-day stopover at South Water Caye. We truly regret to hear your feedback as we always strive to ensure that all our guests and visitors have an overall enjoyable time with us. Do keep in mind we are not a public restaurant and we operate on a set menu plan each day. The night in question was our Belizean Night Special which is a highlight for our guests looking forward to tasting local flavors. We are very mindful of portion sizes when serving carbs as most of our guests are health conscious, but it certainly would not have been an issue to accommodate you with an extra serving if we knew you felt short-changed. Regarding the 3-4 hour notice, advance reservation is preferable since we prepare based on number of dining guests in order to avoid excess food waste. Keep in mind we are a small property on a remote private island and sustainability in our operations is key in order to maintain our idyllic natural ambiance. You are welcomed to return for a future guest stay on a full board plan where you will experience the variety of our meals, featuring local and international cuisine, all freshly prepared daily in generous portions including afternoon home-made snacks, and appetizers and desserts with each dinner. We also take into account special dietary requirements and can customize a meal plan once we have prior notice.
