Detailed Reviews
Staying in a hut is such a cool travel experience! It was kind of like glamping-benefits of being in nature paired with the comforts of home. The day bed was a good place to relax during the hot afternoons or watch a rainstorm. We were lucky enough to have a room further back in the resort, away from the road, which was great because we weren’t into late night partying. There were plenty of families at this resort, and it had more of a beach vacation vibe rather than a backpackers party vibe, at least in January.
Note that the traditional hut is not handicap accessible (the bathroom is down the stairs) and might be harder for people who have issues going up and down stairs. The outdoor shower is really nice to start the day with or shower under the stars.
The breakfast included with some packages is ok, but for other meals I’d suggest trying out the variety of restaurants and stands minutes away from the resort for high quality but cheap local dishes and seafood. If you feel like adventuring into the center of the island to see more of the local vibe and get better deals for clothes, SIM cards, supplies, and souvenirs, make sure you cover up and do not wear just your bathing suit. Bring bug spray because they can be as much of a problem inside as outside!

I travelled around Bali and the surrounding islands in June 2019. This was my favourite place from all places I stayed at. The rooms are very interestingly designed with a rainfall shower and very spacious bathroom. The bathroom had a permanent opening to the outside but when I was there, we didn't have a mosquito issue. I can see how that might be a problem during other times though. I also liked the beach chairs we had outside of our room entrance (2nd floor). It made the entire space we had seem even larger.
The breakfast buffet could be a little bit bigger with more variety, but it was sufficient. You can find cold and warm dishes with some Western and some Indonesian options.
The pools are nice as well. There is a hidden one in the back and one in the front with a waterfall and a bridge connecting the main building to the bungalow area. Both pools have a bar - try the fresh coconut!
To get around the island, you can rent a bike from the hotel for 50,000 IDR. The hotel is very close to the night market and other bars and restaurants, but far enough away so you're not disturbed by party folks ;-)
I also booked the snorkelling activity, which I recommend. They take you to the statues, turtle point and gili air. We saw a few turtles and the guides make sure you get to see at least one before the group leaves. They also constantly check on you to make sure you are ok - this is actually something worth mentioning as the current at the statues was really strong and tired a few people. Snorkelling equipment and towels were provided by the staff.
Another excellent service is the spa. This was my favourite spa that I visited in Bali. The prices are cheap for Europeans although more expensive than the street shops (which I tried once. It was a sketchy experience and I would neither recommend nor repeat that.) I tried the Balinese massage and the Ayurvedic massage at the hotel spa and both were amazing. The spa is also open until 11pm so you can easily go for a massage after dinner.

The staff were very pleasant, apart from the grumpy man who checked us in.
It was a very hot day when we arrived and perhaps we weren't perky after the 1.5 hour drive from Seminyak followed by the 2.5 hour boat ride from Padang Bai and the absolute melee at the port when all the people are leaving and arriving at the same time.
However our room could not have been further away from the main reception, in fact it was so far away that I couldn't join the free wifi from our room. And it was a hell of a journey back to the reception, in the heat...
The restaurant food was adequate but nobody was in charge in the mornings for the breakfast service and nobody knew where anything was, or replaced anything when it ran out. It just requires somebody to take on the role to make it work more smoothly.
I probably wouldn't return to Gili Trawangan anyway - we only went for a family wedding - but if I did I certainly wouldn't stay at Vila Ombak.
I should add that the cleanliness of the rooms was very poor and despite having booked the room for 2 people, we only got 1 cup for tea, 1 glass for water and 1 water bottle provided. I had to ask twice for these things and there was no hairdryer, and when that finally arrived it was dirty too. I mean, how difficult is it to wipe down a hairdryer - I ended up doing with my own wet wipes that I travel with...
The fridge door was absolutely putrid and I decided to open it each time with a tissue, and all the towels we had in the room were frayed and old. Once again, not hard to get new towels or clean down a fridge, where food is stored!
The bathroom doesn't have any windows, rather just bricks in the wall with some openings in them (perhaps I should have studied the previous images in reviews a bit better before booking) and despite the room and the bathroom being very spacious they only provided a tiny little cupboard (akin to a broom closet) for clothes to be put in for 2 people. Plus there was a safe in the bottom of this cupboard so you couldn't even hang anything longer than a shirt as it has to drape across the safe.
Overall it wasn't satisfactory and they don't take customer needs into their practices, and the hotel needs some sort of make over or just a better manager perhaps.
We cut our stay short by 2 nights and needless to say, I really don't recommend staying here at all.

This was excellent median level accommodation on the island, very convenient to all cafes, restaurants, beach/boats. The staff were amazing, we felt like family & they made our stay so very memorable. We will definitely be back!! All facilities very clean & well kept, the grounds were beautiful. All types of accommodation to suit couples, families & groups. Stunning pools, with many activities. Their own restaurant could not be faulted. Entertainment some nights & special nights for meals on the beach.

My second time at vila ombak and it did not disappoint. the best thing about this place, (apart from the perfect location, incredible food and amazing services) is really the staff. they go above and beyond to get you what you need. one of us got sick and we couldn't check out. The staff managed to let us keep our room for one more night for a cheaper price, organised our ferry time changes and contacted our next hotel to inform them we will be a day late. All staff checked in on us, were consistently polite and did their best to help any way they could. Also, nothing beats the BBQ buffet on the beach, its one of the most gorgeous dinners in the world. Special mention to staff Safwan and Novri who took such warm, kind care of us.

Hotels is a few mins walk from the pier and close to everything, as you leave to the right of the hotel nightlife and to the left sunsets and sunrise. Stayed here from 1st to 5th October 22. Beautiful Hotel set in amazing Tropical Paradise Gardens. Room was fantastic very clean, with a very large bathroom and large comfortable bed. Also a large patio to relax on. The veranda had a lovely table and two chairs, I asked for two sun loungers for the patio and the hotel obliged delivering them at no extra charge for the duration of our stay. Extremely helpful & kind staff, gorgeous breakfast. Most notably Sapwan was great, very helpful and chatty, always went out of his way to chat and say hi, even across the pool. Pool area was gorgeous with a pool bar you could swim to and sit in the pool while drinking alcoholic or non alcohol cocktails or bintang beers. Great poolside menu and restaurant. The hotel have a restaurant at the beach also across from the hotel. We did the cooking class at the hotel with the chef who has worked there 20 years, which was excellent and would highly recommend. Chef is just gorgeous lovely friendly man. Thank you for a great experience! Inexpensive food and drinks at the hotel. At the hotel I had 2 massages and a mermaid body scrub which was amazing and would highly recommend for a 1/4 of the price I would pay in Ireland and much better massage. Sunrise and sunsets a must at Gili T.

My boyfriend and I would love to give Hotel Villa Ombak ten stars if we could. They exceeded our expectations with service and hotel accommodations.
We spent the weekend in their pool villa and had a great time. They provided two bikes and plenty of water. We enjoyed the morning buffet and the night time movies on the beach. We got to see the movie, “The Beach” on the beach. The room was constantly maintained with fresh towels and the bathroom and fresh towels by the pool. They also refreshed our water by the bedside at night time.
The room was very spacious clean and exactly as stated. The private pool was especially a nice touch and came in handily with the hot weather conditions. The hotel is a short walk from the drop off dock and very close to all the night time action. We enjoyed every moment of our stay.

We did not stay at the Villa, but one night walking past we were invited in to the beachfront bar to enjoy their happy hour. We were enticed in by Novri. She is a beautiful soul,so welcoming and just draws you into her happy world. They were facing tough times due to Covid19 as the govt had just stopped all travellers from mainland Bali going to the islands. It worked for us. Admittedly we were the only customers, but Novri went out of her way to ensure we had a great evening. It is probably the only ocean view bar/restaurant that doesn’t setup for meals on the beach so we thought we would move on. Novri went out of her way and set us up a special table on the beach. The food was great, the cocktails even better, and the service by Novri and one other staff (I wish I had his name) was brilliant. We had such a fun night with them and they definitely made it memorable. So much so that we returned for dinner the following night. Try their beef sliders - yummo. I shared it with my friend with some fries. Plenty for dinner. Novri was the attraction to this place. We had such a long chat with her and given the circumstances she remained positive and upbeat. I wish them all the best of luck in the upcoming months. It will be very tough for them and I hope they see their way through. We didnt have time to say goodbye to her as our airline was suddenly grounded and we had to leave the island a day early to make alternative arrangements. So thanks Novri for a great couple of days. Hope your boss realises what a gem you are 😀😀

Worst experience in bali. Terrible room service. When i asked for fresh towels the housekeeping told me that he cant give me fresh towels coz the cost of washing clothes is very high, “do u know how much is the drycleaning cost here?”. Asked for blanket for kids having paid for the kids but they just provided the empty blanket cover that too after asking multiple times.. very rudely told no. Housekeeping person “marco” said on phone that u have paid for 3 adults and not children so u will not get towels for kids. Its better to stay in a cheap lodge than this. Restaurant staff is non responsive and rude too. They donot understand english or pretend to not understanding it, my recommendation is that donot come here

Hi,
We have one daybed (155x185 cm) in 1st bedroom in Akoya Two Bedroom Pool Villa. Please visit our website or contact us via email for more details.
Thank you.
It is very cheap to book a taxi on Bali. We booked for a 1/2 day, and I think the price was about 25 euro.
The adress is Gili Trawangan, Lomborg, Gili Trawangan according to our Travel agency. There are several hotels with the name Ombak.
Happy holiday
Best is that you book transfer from hotel itself. They will arrange pick up from the airport and then take you further for speed boat transfer. Villa Ombak got their own speed boat. You will enjoy that. From airport to the harbour on the way also you will like as it’s amazing route.
You can choose Lumbung Hut or Deluxe Family Bungalow. Placed at the backside kf the property and Both of them have direct sky view.
Deluxe Ombak & All Villa Type are semi out door, they are placed at backside of the property but have a roof.
