The hotel is an excellent place to relax and enjoy a room with the view of the Mekong river - that is why you come here!
Staff are good. The early check in was much appreciated.
The included breakfast is limited - Fried Eggs, 1 x hot Noodle dish, rice soup, Bread Toast, Fruit, Tea and Coffee.
The room is large enough and the view from floor #3 is magnificent across the Mekong to Laos.
The hotel is perfectly positioned in Mukdahan, far enough away from the city noise and bustle but close enough with only a 5 minute car ride.
I'm thinking we will make this our go to relax hotel.......
We will book and visit again.

It is a friendly hotel, clean and efficient. The price is just right. It has a character with a nice, spacious lawn. However, the management is trying to entice customers with cheap signates as photo-spots - an unoriginal move by many local hotels that lessens their charms. However, the place is still great.
The room has nice balcony. Good quality bed, pillows, sheets. The bathroom is a bit old but works ok. The first floor rooms offer lower price, and look older with tired materials than those on the second and third floors. The hotel is very popular for local tourists, a bit more of older folks.
The breakfast is adequate but not interesting, with cheap ingredients: cereal, sausages, fried eggs, fried rice or noodles, boil rice, bread and coffee, fruits - overall ok and similar to the local hotels around. However, with the homey, river atmostphere, I wish they have put more thought into breakfast. Also it would be nice to offer healthier options, too.
Good and helpful staff.

The hotel provided us a peaceful ambience with a vast grass field to stroll around and enjoy a great view of the Mekong river. The lobby area is in classic style with wooden wall and wooden curved staircase. Our room was clean and ample with a wonderful view of the Mekong river. Staff were nice. Breakfast was limited variety (boiled rice, sausage, fried egg), however satisfactory. We also tasted Vietnamese rice balls which were sold at the minimart near the lobby. Really relax!

Great hotel right by the Mekong river. All rooms face the river and you will get a chance for a beautiful sunrise. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Big garden area between the hotel and river with multiple photo opportunities. Free good bikes to use the cycleway. We did a morning and afternoon ride, The Included breakfast has Thai and Western option and is quite reasonable, Coffee machine is Nescafe based but does Cappuccinos, Lattes and Chocolate. The espressos were surprisingly good. Standard rooms don't have a bath and lack some furniture but are still very good. Get a superior room or suite if you want more luxury. Be aware that booking sites like Agoda run specials for the standard room

Short visit to Mukdahan and decided to stay at Vieng Khong based on reasonable reviews of the hotel, as well as the location (close to market).
The hotel room are a good size and clean, although our room had an unpleasant smell in the bathroom - unfortunately the hotel was fully booked and we couldn’t get another room (“luckily” it was only an overnight stay).
The staff were pleasant enough and the amenities reasonable for the hotel’s standard.

Firstly, the location right on the Mekong is superb - we had a 3rd (top) floor views over the river and for the sunrise. They provide good condition free bikes for use on the very good cycle way which runs both way along the river. The included breakfast was quite good with choice of two simple Thai dishes and eggs and sausages for Westerners if they wish. It's not a super buffet but more than adequate, The staff service was great, everyone was helpful but especially the receptionist. I liked the bath and bathroom in general and the room was quite spacious and well designed. The wi-fi never failed. Air-con was excellent. We loved the lobby area with inside and outdoor options and the large grounds with photo opportunities. It makes it all so relaxing The hotel has an efficient elevator and beautiful wooden staircase. As a bonus it's only 200 metres to Savan Sumran restaurant which we went to 3 times. They have free coffee until noon but there is a serious coffee shop and small shop A swimming pool would make it perfect but it might also make it noisy.

So happy that I was introduced to this hotel. Beautifully placed along the Mekong river. It is also possible to walk along the river. The rooms were ok and the matrasses very good. This is definitely a hotel I would like to come back to. I only wonder why the hotel didn't provide knives for the breakfast 😊.
