Nothing but happiness during our short stay in Agde, we, a group of 5 cyclists who love the Canal du Midi, thanks to the professionalism and kindness of our hosts. Cleanliness, comfort, excellent dinner recommendations, delicious and hearty breakfast, bike area suitable for us adventurers, wifi, and so on. A big thank-you ! to the managers of this Araur hotel, magnificently located a stone's throw from the historic center of Agde, which I can only warmly recommend to all those looking for authenticity and also an excellent and unrivaled quality/price ratio!

We spent one night in this very well located hotel, a 5-minute walk from Saint Étienne Cathedral. Warm and friendly welcome, decent room and bathroom. Parking is a plus.
We didn't have breakfast.

Charming hotel located on the banks of the Herault river. We only slept one night, and had breakfast, and yet the warm welcome from the owners, and their friendliness was genuine, Clean room, with good sound insulation and quality bedding, breakfast service at top. thank you....🙏😃

We stayed two nights in this little hotel full of charm, with a splendid view, and a very warm welcome. The owners have been very attentive with our daughters. We'd asked for a room for 4 people, it was perfect for a family with two children.
We kept their documentation; we will certainly be in contact and return to this hotel. 'Tina and Jerome' also indicated us a restaurant and said we we would appreciate the good cooking, they were right... A big thanks to them both!

After looking at "La Galiote" which I was anxious to avoid, I opted on the Araur. Paid 70 Euros per night and stayed two nights, no breakfast but a lovely bar nearby. Reception helpful, can speak some English, which with my French saw us get by. Nice air con room at front, sound of church bell lulled to sleep. Handy for the beach, station, town centre. TV French channels only and about a dozen channels. I was kindly offered a bottle opener for my wine plus a nice glass.

The location is good, right on the river. That said it's on a main road so there is traffic noise. The people running the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very basic, probably haven't been refurbished for at least 20+ years. It's relatively inexpensive but given the quality, isn't great value.
Breakfast again was basic; croissants, bread and a yogurt.

Using Hotel Araur as or base to explore the coast was an excellent idea. The owners were exceptionally helpful and made our two night stay a pleasure. Conveniently located between the old town and the rail station, Hotel Araur was clean, the breakfast good and the service friendly. Get a corner room overlooking the river. The town is lit a night and beautiful.

This small family run hotel is situated opposite the Cathedral on the opposite bank of the river. This allows both great views and easy access to the quays and old town. The rooms are basic but adequate and very clean.
The owners are really charming and helpful and the breakfast is good value. There is plenty of parking in front of and at the side of the hotel
In the height of summer those rooms without aircon will get very warm if the shutters are left open. However, this hotel has plenty of character, an unbeatable location, lovely owners and represents great value.

France still offers the experience of charming and friendly family-run hotels. The Hotel Araur in Agde is exemplary of these. Kindly, welcoming, and helpful proprietors; darling, comfortable, and extremely clean rooms; fabulous window views. If you visit Agde (which you should!), don't miss the chance to stay in this wonderful, small hotel!!

By the way — oops on the restaurant rating. They don't have a restaurant. But they can recommend a terrific one!

We were a bit early - but that wasn't a problem. In fact we were upgraded to an upper corner room with 3 windows offering a breathtaking view over the Herault river to the cathedral, which, along with the bridge, is beautifully illuminated at night. Just a few turns from the train station and you are at the hotel. it's a busy street during peak periods, but not quite as loud as the quacking ducks in the river or rowers practicing...all quite entertaining by the riverbank below. the modern windows cancel most sound anyway. Genuinely friendly owners who aim to please but knowing a little French helps the guest. They recommended dinner at the floating barge directly across the river (the admiral) and it was good advice. Looked expensive but was actually good value, tasty and personable. We returned and were glad it was so close. A noteworthy site nearby is the Canal Du Midi turnaround
with 3 spokes off it. Easy walk. From the nearby train station a bus takes you to Grau d'Agde, promenade, restaurants, beach and river mouth for the commercial fishery bordered by twin lights. Breakfast was spartan, but adequate. Loved the view from the room.
