If you want an authentic Austrian experience stay in this hotel. It is in a stunning location surrounded by mountains. Bad Ischl is a beautiful town. We had a tariff called half board. This gave us a spacious room with views of mountains, breakfast, access to the thermal baths, 5 course dinner and "cake hour' where you could have cake and savoury food in the afternoon. We stayed 3 nights and could have stayed much longer as there is plenty to do. 90% of tourists are german speaking but don't let that put you off. The staff were all magnificent and helpful. Their english is far better than our german. You can relax in the baths in the morning, walk the mountains during the day, enjoy a fine dinner in the evening and then relax again in the baths after dinner . Hope to be back.
Just joined my 80 year old mother here for 2 days. It is pretty good for a 4 star hotel. If you are an early bird you have access to the pool complex from 7-9 in the company of a few other guests. The public enter at 9. for me this was very special. On thursdays the sauna area is reserved for women only between 9 am and 1 pm. Both breakfast and dinner surpassed my expectations bio/organic ingredients and high standard of cuisine. A coffee/cake buffet is included mid-afternoon for anyone feeling peckish after the hard work of relaxing in the warm salty baths! No wifi in the bedrooms but access in the lounge. Had A very relaxing and enjoyable quiet time here.
I have been in this hotel an property (the therme) twice: once when I was single and the second time was in my honeymoon! the place is absolutely heaven on earth! we have enjoyed every single minute there- and for sure we will be back
After a very tiring year, we were lucky to choose Hotel Royal for vacation The garden and Spa area are an oasis of calm, thermal water and modern saunas ensure pleasure and relaxation. The restaurant has a refined and rich menu, dishes all prepared with care and in harmony with the spirit of the location. The city, much loved by the royal couple - the Emperor Franz-Joseph and the Princess Sissi - has many historical attraction that can complete a perfect and "Royal" holiday!
After a tour of European Cities, we had booked the Royal Hotel to unwind and relax - and it is the perfect place to do both. We were as far as we knew the only British residents, but for us this was an advantage. Part of the whole holiday experience for us is to observe different ways of behaving, not to see our fellow countrymen. The food is superb, and the limited choice suited us fine. Although our German is adequate, the staff would happily speak English when prompted, and provide an English language menu. The connected Spa was great fun, a real excuse to do very little except luxuriate in salty bubbles. I would suggest you researched German sauna culture if you have never tried the German sauna experience before. In short, highly recommended for those who like a slightly unusual - for a Brit - holiday. Bad Ischl is a charming town and as the hotel is close to the railway station and the bus station an ideal base to explore the hinterland.…
