Tucked away off a rugged dusty road near Habarana, this forest retreat is a fantastic stay. Maulie and her staff are attentive and helpful with arranging jaunts to local sites. Communal meals are a great way to hear how others are exploring Sri Lanka and hear Maulie's perspective from her extensive experience in Sri Lanka. Very highly recommended stay as...

What a great experience. Despite forest impressions of getting of the train and a tuk tuk rose down a very poor road the lodge itself is a million miles from this. Simple, elegant and natural it had everything you could need, warn shower, huge bed and gray areas for sitting and watching the nature go by. Make time to swing...

Amazing and original ecolodge! All clean and very cosy, good mattress, hot shower. Food is amazing++ vegetarian, super tasty. generous breakfast, dinner is quite expensive (10$) but definitely worth it considering the quality of the products. The road to get there is bumpy but not too long, 10 15 minutes. It is located 5mn walk from galkadawala lake which is...

Put yourself into the jungle and get pampered. Yes, Maulie poured her heart out at this splendid place and lives with her guests like family. Mud hut under the triple storied tree house with tiny terraces and another one just out of fantasy. Beautiful details bring character to the rooms as much as the menu surprises with every meal. Close...

Galkadawala Forest Lodge where I spent two nights in the first half of July was a delightful experience - certainly one of the highpoints of my 2-week trip through Sri Lanka. You arrive to take in the visual beauty (simple yet traditional) of the stilted clay-and-wood buildings that have been put together almost entirely with recycled material & bear virtually...

We stayed there for two nights with our 2 and 5 year olds. We stayed in the bungalow which is built over the river. Our five year old and the adults loved watching the river, where we saw a two meter lizzard, turtles, a water snake attempting to catch a frog and fish. Excellent! And the host is nice and...

The staff at Galkadawala make you feel welcome immediately. The rooms are well appointed and quirky, giving you an experience that you will not find elsewhere on your travels through Sri Lanka. My family and I stayed in the double story unit which was very relaxing. In the evenings, a great spot for a sun-downer is on the top floor,...

Putting together our holiday itinerary, some of the accommodation options near Sigariya seemed uninspiring budget hotels. When we saw what Galkadawala offered, we decided to give it a try, conscious that an 'off-the-beaten track' eco-lodge in the heat of April might be something we'd later regret. But no way. It turned out to be one of the high spots of...

We were on our first trip to Sri Lanka and our first halt was Galkadawala. We stayed there for two nights and truly cherished the visit. To start with we liked the rustic feel of the place . It blended very beautiful with the surrounding. Maulie and her team were very friendly and loving. The food was authentic and tasty...
