An old oak beamed room with a comfortable king size bed; good beer; friendly service and excellent food when it is wet and miserable outside - what is there more to want? I recommend the Otter bitter beer and the catch of the day, which was haddock the day I visited.

Delicious and satisfying lunch. My husband had the salmon gravadlax and had the pigeon breast both were delicious and beautifully presented. Then the turkey pie. Too much to finish it. Excellent beer and a selection of gin. Total meal with drinks for 2 £45

We stayed here for a weekend getaway and it was in a lovely quiet location not far from walking routes in the new forest. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious. The food was lovely and the gin selection was very good!

The Compasses is in a small village not far from Fordingbridge. Has pleasant garden. The manager and staff were all very friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant where the food was very good and plenty of choice. Our room overlooked the garden and was comfortably furnished. Only problem was no mirror near the socket when using hairdryer. We...
