My husband and I spent a few nights at Hotel de la Pointe while we explored the Finistère area of Brittany. It was a good base to travel up to an hour or so to various sights. The hotel is on a relatively quiet street with views of the water across the road. The young lady at reception was friendly and very helpful and she took us to our room up one flight of stairs. The room was very basic and small but had a decent sized bathroom and lots of shelf space in the closet. We had a cute balcony, overlooking the ocean, which had a small two top table and chairs. The French doors had a privacy shade which we rolled down at night while keeping the windows open a bit for fresh air. The tub/shower had a window smack in the middle of it but had a curtain over it for privacy. Guests should be aware that there is a family dog on the property, and while we did sometimes hear it in the morning (the room walls are thin), it was very quiet at night. Breakfast was plentiful with good croissants, various breads, fruit, yogurt, DIY boiled eggs, ham, cheeses, etc. We had dinner two nights in the hotel restaurant- it was a tad pricey but worth it! The chef is a wizard and we enjoyed so many fine local dishes. These were our best meals in Brittany. The tastefully decorated restaurant dining room has views of a basin and is a lovely setting. Service was superb and very friendly. Two months later, my husband and I are still taking about our dinners there. The owners and the staff were a delight and so helpful during our visit. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Hotel de la Pointe and we would stay there again and recommend it to other travelers as well.

Just home from an amazing four day break, our best ever. Hotel is delightful; beautifully designed with elegant rooms in discreet colours highlighted with bright cushions telling you (in French) to relax on the beach! Everything works; heating, hot water (plenty,) high quality bed linen, sensible electrical window blinds operated at the touch of a button; these people know what they are doing. Best elements are the sensational setting between a quiet inlet and a white sand beach sheltered by pines and the wonderful attitude of all staff, amazing given our school-level French. Loved the ladies who did breakfast and explained how we could work the space-age coffee machine! Food was a cut above the usual hotel cuisine. Dishes using local produce are artfully prepared and arranged on the plate. Desserts to die for and a very comprehensive wine list. The chef here must be among the best in the region and deserves our compliments. The welcome was genuine and warm, while staff remained professional and seemed to be there for their customers of all nationalities. We found this hotel by chance, but will return as soon as we can. Southern Brittany was a delight and there is so much to see - the coastline is wilder and more interesting than the north and there's a sense of freedom. There are great walks direct from the hotel too. A little gem.

We have just completed a four night stay in this very nice hotel. Everything was perfect from the room with a sort of internal conservatory with sea views both front and back( the hotel is on a promontory) to the wonderful food cooked by renowned chef Ludovic. His wife Valerie and mother Yvonne lead the rest of the team with a warm and ready smile and flawless efficiency. Overall we would recommend this hotel without hesitation. And don't forget to play with Mocha the exuberantly friendly dog!! Brian Cooper
