Me and my family had a booking and had called the owner to get his pre-approval on us coming with our dog. We checked in and after 2 hours the owner came and asked us (not even kindly) to leave because our dog was barking a bit (she's always a bit nervous when arriving in a new place but it doesn't last long). He didn't offer any alternative nor advice on finding a new place. It was raining. And on top of that he even dare to ask us for money for the room. Awful !!! Such a shameful treatment.

Booked for just one night and wasn't what I expected at all. We arrived at 1 pm and tried to pop in to ask about parking and somewhere to eat but the door was well and truly closed. They just open for the strict check in (which is a very late 5.30) and check out period. Most odd and not like any other b & b that I have stayed at. The room itself was refurbished, light and very spacious, the bed was comfortable and there was a fan. Shower room was new although no toiletries. No fridge in room or facility to make a drink. Breakfast was reasonable although served by a very dour man - perhaps he was having an off day. The host was friendly and helpful although her cigarette smoke did waft up as our room was over the entrance hall and looking on to the street. To be honest, I wouldn't stay again. Because the check in was so late, we were kicking our heels in Gruissan when we just wanted to freshen up and change. Some good positives but for us, some negatives also.

Only stayed one night on our way west down the coast. Nice ground floor room with its own little space outdoors, nice breakfast, nice area in the old village centre... very friendly host. Would happily stay again,.

Good location. Spacious first floor room. (Ground floor rooms facing the street could probably feel a bit noisy occasionally?) Lovely (cold) breakfast. Kitchen (fridge, utensils) that you can use whenever you want. Small nice garden. Friendly owner. Recommended.

Very nice house in ideal location. Great rooms with lots of space and clean design. But: room was never cleaned in 3 days! No new towels, no replacement shower lotion. Nothing to welcome us, not even a bottle of water. Check-in only after 6 pm. Breakfast without much effort, always the same. All the infrastructure is there, it could be so much better with a little love.

Stayed here with our daughter and small children to have a seaside break. its about a mile from the beach, so car advisable. Parking easy in the wide tree lined street and that is right in the very attractive old town where there are a number of shops and good restaurants. The owners, Parisian wife and local husband, were very hospitable and accommodating and let us use the breakfast kitchen to prepare and eat snacks for the children etc, which was really useful. Breakfast was good , although the offering was identical every morning. Our only gripe about very attractive refurbished rooms was that our shower tray was cracked and leaking, leaving an unpleasant smell in the bedroom, and that hook for ths shower head did not fit, so there was no elevated shower. its a shame that having know about this they hadn't got the problems fixed.

This place is wonderful! Very easy to find as is centrally located in Gruissan, lots of free parking in front of the house and fabulous hosts. Very well priced, excellent value. We only stayed for one night but wished it could have been longer - the whole place is decorated and styled to perfection with quirky individual touches from the local area as combined with a melange of modern and classic making it feel very luxurious. In our room the bed was large and comfy and we had lots of space, the bathroom was like new, perhaps recently renovated and the shower was excellent. There is free wifi. We made use of the bikes available to borrow and the lady that welcomed us gave us directions to Gruissan Plage - around 10 mins max on bike. She also gave us some great dinner recommendations - the salt plains are stunning..! Breakfast was continental and delicious with fresh bread, croissants, jams, cereal, yoghurt and fresh coffee, juice and tea all eaten outside on the sun terrace. When we checked out we popped next door to the local vineyard store for some rose! This was the perfect place to start our holiday and we will most certainly be back - THANKYOU!

Clean renovation and simple but nice decoration with a feeling of the 50's welcomes you at La Maison de Gruissan. Great hosts, good breakfast and perfectly located. Not to mention the selection of wines we brought home. We warmly recommend.

My husband and I spent three nights in this very charming B&B during a recent visit to the old village of Gruissan. I had referred to my mobility difficulties when booking and was delighted to have a ground floor room assigned to us. The room was spacious and airy with original floor tiles and I suspect was perhaps the drawing room in the original Maison de Maitre. The room was most attractive, with original floor tiles and a mix of reproduction and contemporary furniture. The bed was very large and comfortable and the modern ensuite was excellent with a roomy shower. Mornings were overcast during our stay so we had breakfast in the dining room rather than in the pretty courtyard, but we appreciated cold milk for our tea and the home made preserves. Hubert and Christelle are a very kind and hardworking young couple for whom nothing was too much trouble, although with limited English which was equalled by my rusty French. However they were really warm and friendly and willing to do anything to help if required. On street parking is scarce and loading and unloading a car is affected by this, but there is a small car park at the top (marina) end of the street. Restaurants in the old village close on Tuesday's, but it is possible to find somewhere open in the modern and more tourist centred part of town. Old or new, Gruissan is a beautiful place in gorgeous countryside and I recommend it highly. As a blue badge (disability) holder I found France excellent, and in Gruissan there are areas where no other parking is permitted but you can find solitary blue badge spaces. We hope to return to La Maison de Gruissan for many years to come.
