Rented the entire place with a group in March 2017. Had an amazing time and all wish we had stayed longer. Positives: -Eco-island. No electricity, though there are solar panels in the day to charge your phone and such. It was nice to be disconnected...More

Our last stop during our tour of Malawi took us to the wonderful island that is Mumbo. We didn't know what to expect, not having been there before but what we found was amazing. Breathtaking views both above and below the water. No electricity but...More

Where to even start...from arrival at Cape Maclear all staff at Kayak Africa was warm and welcoming. It is about a 35 - 40 min boat trip to get to the island and well worth the journey. Truly feels like you are able to break...More

Hi, I visited Mumbo Island in March/April 2016. can you tell me who was the manager at Mumbo Island at that time? I had a great time playing Bao games with him and we used to do that all the time. I have been searching for him on the internet because i still want to thank him for the great time that I had but I can't remember his full name.

I'm looking at extending a stay in Blantyre to head with some friends to Mumbo Island for 4 days / 3 nights. I was wondering about pricing options and how we get there from Blantyre along with costings. So far, there's about 5 of us interested in going from 20-23 November. Also, cost of diving whilst there.

Considering going in January for my honeymoon. January is said to be in the rainy season. Does it rain constantly for a week/weeks? Or is it short but hard thunderstorms? Will I still have okay weather days during this time. Around 10 Jan.

Hi Phillip It depends when in January you will be travelling. We actually close the fully-catered option on Mumbo halfway through January as it really can rain! Early January is fine though - up until about the 10th. Mumbo... More
