We had the suite with private garden and private sauna. We found the location very nice and the welcome and service very warm and personal. A little tip; beware with programming your navigation because we had what we called the tourist trail in which we drove through the forest.

Lovely old house in the centre of a tiny village, very quiet, authentic atmosphere, excellent breakfast and on request excellent dinner. The room was a bit cramped, but this was mainly due to the huge four-poster bed. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We were the only guests and really felt at home there.

This place is wonderful. The hospitality, the food, accommodation and the location. It was a delightful experience starting with a warm welcome from the very gracious host Carole. We definitely plan to return some day.

We just came back from our wonderful stay in Le Tapis rouge. It was exactly what we were looking for, a romantic, warm and lovely place in a scenic village. We were welcomed by a very kind hostess with a glass of wine by the fireplace, got a lovely room and enjoyed a superb breakfast the next morning. We also...

A classic old building with an attractive little outdoor sitting area. Out room was comfortable and benefitted from a double aspect. What we didn't expect was that the new owners (new since we booked at the start of the year) provide excellent dinners. On the menu were carpaccio of beef with truffle oil, T-bone steak (vast), a large cod steak,...

Great location, we stayed here for the track, rooms and owners were amazing, great grounds. The only gripe was the church clock sounding every half hour all night! We had a great service, breakfast and evening meal was high quality!

Beautiful classic building, carefully restaurated and decorated, but with modern comfort such as luxury bathroom and very good boxspring beds. Situated next to a church in small rural village. A wonderful place for tranquility seekers, very quiet surroundings. Very nice and helpful owner. Gave us maps for hikings, advice where to dine and what to see. Evening meal and breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Le Tapis Rouge, a characteristic Ardenner Farmhouse anno 1896 converted to a luxuriously place to stay and sleep like a king in our special beds i.E. Hastens - Auping - Tempur, a great start to explore the Ardennes! A narrow road through the wood will bring you from Vielsalm to the top, +/- 550 meter, you will see the 'mini' village Commanster as soon as you leave the wood. Le Tapis Rouge is located just behind the renovated church and is surrounded by typical Ardenner farmhouses and the famous castle of Vielsalm. The province of Luxembourg, the least populated of Belgium, can therefore show the most unspoilt nature. Wooded hills, deep valleys and murmuring brooks are common here. But not only will you admire these beautiful landscapes and panoramas, you will be astounded by some spectacular rock formations, abysses and caves. A land of tradition, witches and jazz festivals. Gouvy and Vielsalm are the two main centres. Land of food, stones, fresh air, forests and above all water thanks its rivers, lakes and bubbling waterfun, Vielsalm is a very good place to relax and experience peacefully all the Ardennes benefits The hotel is loacted in the area of Spa-Francorchamps, +/- 30km, the place to be during the Belgium Grandprix Formule 1. After a long walk you can sit around the open fire with a drink or relax in you own private infra red sauna available in our suites! In the evening you can enjoy our three course dinner. ... more   less
