We recently returned from a 10 day vacation in Italy in which we spent 6 incredible days at the Borgo Castello Panicaglia near Nocera Umbra in the Umbria region of Italy. An agriturismo establishment tucked away in the beautiful rolling hills of Umbria, this hotel/B&B is an old castle built in 1266 and completely restored in 2006. It is managed...

Zohra is warm, funny, helpful and an amazing cook. She makes an effort to arrange the best possible days out, offering advice and making bookings. We had the pleasure of wonderful yoga in the yoga/exercise room, and enjoyed the open air pool when we returned from our excursions to all the little medieval villages. One of many highlights of the...

I have been extremely reluctant to share this amazing find of a place! It is an absolutely fantastic place for a family. The setting is stunning, the rooms are huge. The bathrooms are modern. It has a beautiful pool, perfect for lazy family afternoons. We had breakfast and dinner there ( the food is wonderful, typical of the region and...

We stayed here for seven nights. Our room was spacious, clean & with beautiful scenery out of each window. The bathroom was spotless and the towels soft and large. We found our host to be both friendly & helpful. She also has a really lovely dog! We ate all our meals here bar one & they were very nice. If...

We spent almost two months at the Borgo Castello Panicaglia this summer and it was the best holiday we have had in years. Zohra (and Vento!) run a terrific establishment, efficient yet welcoming, located perfectly in the Umbrian countryside. Great food, wonderful friendships and to add to it, beautiful little towns at a short drive. Our son, all of 7...

This was the third year in a row my husband and I stayed at the Borgo Castello Panicaglia Prior to our first visit we had never returned to other holiday accommodation before. We had booked to stay a week here and the second week elsewhere but extended it as we were enjoying our stay so much. The Borgo is beautiful...

What makes this place so special is the wholeness and the beauty of the surroundings, and most importantly Zohra, the manager, an energetic woman with a heart as big as the place itself. She will do anything to make your stay unique, including giving you suggestions for great places to visit and to eat. I arrived here yesterday from Rome,...

My husband and I stayed at Borgo Castello Panicaglia for two weeks in September and have a truly wonderful stay. Zohra is one of the best hosts we have ever come across in our travels to date & the borgo is stunning - indeed, it far exceeded our expectations. We opted for full board every night because the food experience...

Borgo Castello Panicaglia was an incredible stay and experience in the heart of Umbria. You can stay there as your base and visit all of the surrounding hilltowns, Assisi, Gubbio, Spello, easily. It was difficult to find, but once you do you are in a wonderful excluded spot. Make sure to take the exit marked Nocera Umbra to get off...

“All the rooms are great, but you may want to choose the new wing if you don't want to navigate stairs. We used a large apartment within the old building, which included two bathrooms and a kitchenette and were very happy. Perfect for long stays”
