This was a must visit. In the French guide, "they are trying for nil point" on the food. A little harsh. 2/10 would be more fair. Centre of an interesting town to walk at night. Not for the light hearted. Nice stop before the southern coast road that NEEDS a 4x4.

I really liked staying at this hotel. The employees went way out of their way to be helpful and to make our stay pleasant. They arranged for a local singer and her accompanist to perform for us on the rooftop. They tried to accommodate some of our special diet requests. The food is quite basic but good. They were even... This is the real Cuba. The hotel is next to a sugar cane refinery and a small museum. Niquero is a port city and it is interesting to visit the port and the fishing facilities. In the morning you see all the citizens on bikes going to their places of work. The hotel is cheap and standard but there was... More

I have stayed here many times. This is a simple, no frills, 3 story hotel in Niquero with a friendly staff. The rooms are basic. There is a restaurant and small bar on the ground floor. On weekends, the organo Oriente is rolled out opposite the hotel and people dance in the street.

The hotel itself is not so bad, it has old and threadbare furnitures, but the room was quite big and some of the staff spoke English well... the problem was the annoying, loud factory just at the other side of the street (in the city center!), so sleeping was not so easy... and the night view from the windows was...... We stayed here one night during a cycle tour. A distinctive and unique decor. The nearby factory emits all sorts of noises, but interfered little with my sleep. Well worth it to stay in such an enchanting town.

Amazing - the rate here was $18 CUC per night, breakfast (with one coffee) included. Old Colonial syle, decent rooms, some of the staff spoke English. The meals were decent, given what they had on hand - a dessert was mango marmelade con queso - a kind of saucer with mango sauce, topped with shredded cuban mild cheese. Actually very... More
