Dear Mary, yes there are mosquitos and the cabins are kind of rustic, meaning there are gaps around doors or the floorboards are not completely sealed but the Windows have screens plus a mosquito net over your bed. If you are so much worried about mosquito they might also get you when you are out and around... Use strong tropic strength repellent as well.
I have to say- We never had sleepless nights because of mosquitos (saying that we stayed overall for 7 weeks in Costa Rica and Panama and travelled with our young boys 4&7 mostly in rustic/outdoor/open air cabinas)
