Chosen at random as a stop over from Bavaria to Calais, the stay here was very pleasant. Friendly welcome, the English speaking son run off his feet as the proprietress (his mother) was convalescing. The hotel gives a great sense of it's history with previous occupier portraits on the walls (not sure I'd want to have met them though), old...

This hotel is well situated close to the town centre and really easy to find. We stayed there as part of a Mosel cycling tour and had ridden 42km in temperatures that were around 35C. It was therefore somewhat frustrating to find that there was no air conditioning (really? In the 21 st century!?!?) and the provision of a fan...

It's an old castle / monastery that has been lovingly restored by Karin the owner. The rooms are a little quirky and a little dated but perfectly clean and they are well appointed. German TV only. The room was accessed by a winding turret staircase. 4th floor for us so be careful what you book, good job we were quite...

The castle is basic for the price and is in the middle of town. Breakfast was good and staff friendly but was disappointed felt it could have been better. Did not eat there so cannot comment on the food.

The Hotel is fairly unique, old turret style rooms. Beware you have to carry your own bags up very steep small winding stairs, watch your head if you are over 6 ft. The room we had was large and spacious but the door into the room was only 5'11" so I copped it a few times on my forehead. The...

It's a romantic castle hotel on the banks of Mosele river in the medieval town of Zell. We stayed in the tower room, very spacious & attractive, with a separate sitting area, a couch, table & chairs, a queen size bed and a wardrobe. Very good buffet breakfast was served in the cellar restaurant also excellent dinner. Staff, very friendly...

Stayed here with Karen who was more than helpful and charming. The building is 500 years old with plenty of mod cons and all you would expect from a small hotel - breakfast was buffet in a large room with amazing stain glass windows and large furniture with tasty extras - would high recommend to passing tourists - some lovely...

We stayed one night, the owner had already arranged for a late checkin around 10:30 but there was a mix up at the airport with our hire car and we eventually arrived after midnight - we'd called ahead to warm them and there was a welcoming party there to greet us and check us in. The hotel is charming -...

We came to Zell to sample the wines of the Mosel and needed a base camp. This little pocket castle was the perfect place. We got the tower room on the third floor and after lugging our luggage up the spiral staircase, found our room complete with a sitting area, enormous bathroom and a view that overlooked the hotel that...

Stayed here two nights and wished to stay a few nights more. The welcome and service were second to none. Nice buffet breakfast. Dogs most welcome. The room was very clean if a little dated but this added to the charm. Not the best place to stay if you cannot manage spiral stair cases.
