This is a hotel of two parts. We were staying in the older part and whilst there was absolutely nothing wrong with the accommodation it felt a little tired and in a need of a makeover. That said, it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The newer part looked very smart. The facilities such as the pool, the almost private beach, the arrangement for sunlounges on the local organised beach and the restaurant were available to everyone and all first class. And the staff were great, friendly and helpful without exception. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay.

Stayed here for a week with my wife. The whole of the hotel and grounds are really well presented, maintained and clean. The two pools are also lovely, with the pool by the reception area generally very empty for most of the day, even in peak season. The infinity pool by the restaurant was busier. All the staff are charming and so welcoming. The restaurant could have been a bit more Greek rather than European; but that’s just me. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Whilst well presented and very clean, I think the garden rooms need a bit of an update. Overall I really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Yes, it's as good at the pictures. Fantastic hotel with stunning views. Stayed for four nights in a suite with private pool. The amenities of the room were excellent and the pool was larger than expected. There are two communal pool areas - the infinity pool area in particular is idyllic. The beach beneath the hotel is a couple of minutes' walk and a busier (managed) beach is about ten minutes away. The staff were considerate and friendly, with great service at reception, the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choice. There are several other food options within a 15-minute walk in both directions.

Stunning hotel. A couple of minutes walk to a private beach with crystal clear waters. Great view from the gorgeous infinity pool. Super relaxing and quiet. Stayed in a luxury suite with our two teenage daughters. Plenty of space for us all. Delicious food and drinks from the restaurant. Ate at the beach restaurant a few nights. Again, great food. The area is fab. We had a day out at Methoni to see the castle and ended up hiring a boat and going to some uninhabited islands to snorkel and swim. It was idyllic.

We spent 5 nights at the Colonides Hotel, after lots of debating over where to go for our first holiday abroad in 2 years. We were hoping for an idyllic location, warm sunshine, a bit of luxury, peace and quiet, somewhere not crowded in these Covid times, great food, and an interesting area to explore. We got it all and were really happy with our choice. We opted for a Junior Suite with private pool, again after lots of debate, and were happy with this decision. It had particularly wonderful views as the sun rose each morning at about 7.30am over the Mani peninsula across the water. The only downside was a couple of times our neighbours smoking on their terrace and the smell drifting over - even though there is good privacy with a high stone wall between the suites, but it wasn't often we were out on our terrace at the same time and the hotel was only half full anyway so we didn't generally notice other people about, In terms of hotel layout, there are 5 x Junior Suites and they all face the sea behind the restaurant, but higher on the slope, so the view to the sea is over the restaurant roof. When you are sitting or lying on your poolside sunbeds you don't worry about the roof - it just looks like a low whitewashed wooden fence with huge sea view behind towards the Mani and its mountains (and a distant view of Koroni and its castle to the right). We had J2, which was one in from the driveway that leads down to the restaurant. J5 on the other end of the block probably has the clearest view to the sea down the side of the restaurant, but is set a little further back. There appeared to be 2 Luxury Suites, which were parallel with the restaurant rather than behind it, facing the sea across the gardens, and their terraces I think are probably slightly bigger. The infinity pool is in front of the restaurant and just as lovely as the website photos. the original curved pool is higher up with the original hotel buildings, but also looked lovely, though we never got around to testing it out! We used our J2 suite private pool in the mornings after breakfast, as the infinity pool can only be used from 11am onwards. This is fine as the junior suite terraces are in the sun until lunchtime. BUT the water was icy cold so we were very glad we had thought to bring a blow up float - dangling feet and hands in the water was as much as we could manage! The infinity pool was also chilly but we did manage to do some lengths in it - is a good size for this and the loungers over the water are lovely. In early October we only ever saw 1 other person by the pool when we were there, and had the pool itself to ourselves on the couple of days when we used it. Ditto the restaurant was very quiet. We had an excellent dinner there the first evening - highly recommend the appetiser of shrimps with honey and feta, but all dishes we tried were great. Breakfast also had a good selection and very Covid conscious (masks etc). Really enjoyed the spinach and feta and chicken pastries and the nice range of cakes (v naughty for breakfast). Otherwise we sampled other restaurants in the area - Akti restaurant is closest, just before Peroulia beach and it was fine but didn't feel particularly welcoming. We preferred the Peroulia 1984 restaurant where we had a lunch whilst enjoying the beach one day, and a dinner on our last night - great food and lovely view. You can either drive and park in an olive grove above the beach, or it's about 10-15mins walk down the quiet lane from the hotel - we decided we needed the walk due to large portion sizes everywhere!! Do find time to explore this area of the Peloponnese which we found unexpectedly scenic. Koroni castle is worth a wander (free entry) and we enjoyed a meal at Barbarossa restaurant by Koroni harbour one eve (big car park by the harbour). Methoni Castle is about 45mins away and is stunning with a small entry fee to explore the vast area with great views, jutting out from the town where there is also a nice beach with views. Pylos has yet another castle slightly further up the west coast and another harbour with nice restaurants (recommend Poseidonia) and then there is the beautiful Voidokolia crescent shaped beach just beyond, with flamingos in the lagoon behind! So we filled our 5 days and wished we had more time! Our room had everything we needed, from hairdryer, to a safe, to a kettle and tea bags, apart from no free bottled water so had to buy that at the bar or when out and about. There is a stocked minibar in the room but it's chargeable. The bed was very comfy indeed, and the shower was excellent - rainfall style but with a handheld shower head too if you preferred. This is a really peaceful hotel in a quiet area of the Peloponnese for those who want to relax and enjoy the hotel's very comfortable facilities and good food, but you should also explore! Highly recommended. Easy drive of about 45 mins from Kalamata airport along the coast. Hiring a small car is best for the little towns if you do plan to explore!

Words are not enough to describe the experience we had during our stay. Starting from the reception the welcome was very warm and friendly. You could understand everything was very clean and shinny from first look. The hotel is located just on top of the beach witch by the way is private for the hotel visitors only. It's architecture combines natural materials ,stone and wood, with luxury furniture and details so perfectly matched that makes you it's time to begin a makeover to your house 😁 You can enjoy yourself at both pools , one of them infinity pool with amazing view , or at your own private pool if you book a suite. The breakfast included everything i've imagined and more! The restaurant with two different menus for evening and dinner just by the infinity pool was excellent!!! Everything i tasted was perfect, tasty and as my daughter said ... Yammyyyyy!!!! It was the best way to relax and charge our batteries before another school year begins. Until next time.... Thank you guys, everything was amazing!!!!

Loved our room with private infinity pool overlooking the gulf waters and distant mountains. The room was beautiful with plenty of space to lounge and enjoy the beautiful pool through the wall to wall windows. Also loved the marble bathroom rain shower. Can’t beat the soaker tub in the bedroom which overlooks the living room and pool deck. The staff are incredible - extremely friendly and helpful. Food at the hotel is fantastic! We dined on our private deck via room service. The restaurant with patio dining is beautiful as it overlooks the main infinity pool. We loved our nightly drinks (Skinos Fresh) prepared by the fabulous Jenny at the bar! You cannot beat room Lux2!
