The windows aren’t double glazed in the rooms that are added on to the original building. It was absolutely freezing when entering the room on arrival on a cold March winters day as the heating wasn’t on. The existing heating is switched off so all that is available is a 2 ft tall portable plugin oil heater where the bed is situated. No heating in the bathroom either! A really poor set up to be honest in this day and age. It smells of damp throughout certain parts of the hotel but mostly in the room that I’m staying in. The hotel is also in desperate need of modernisation. 90’s decor!! The food was nice albeit well over priced as are the drinks. Staff are friendly. Overall this is just shocking for the 21st century. I would definitely not stay here again. Please look elsewhere before booking !

I had to change my date due to work and informed them months in advance, They declined my request and took my money anyway. I informed their customer service and they cancelled my booking as a now show so there would be no record of them declining my request. Their behaviour after the booking was even more appealing than before. Do not stay here absolutely zero policy for customer satsfaccion or retention.

Avoid...avoid ... avoid.... booked for a function... function room fusty, had to open fire doors to let dry air in... Not much of a staff presence or welcome, food was OK, average, sandwiches etc but the big negative was the damp/fusty atmosphere... uncomfortable and unpleasant to be breathing in same.

Great staff and wonderful sights over the moors, loved it as close by to all the high streets, parking was easy and accessible for disable people. When I’m back in the UK I’ll stay there again, Staff were great at helping you and nothing was too much.

Thank you Mercure, had a great stay with you. Called before arrival to ask some questions, Sylvia on reception has been very helpful, informative and she allocated my room better then I could imagine. She welcomed me upon arrival as I arrived earlier and that wasn't problem at all. Been offered help with bags and taken to room. Evening meal and service was really good also. Beds very comfortable. Thank you again. Your team members are very respectful, friendly and helpful. Will be coming back soon.

The family room size is excellent. However, the hotel needs a full refit. It has undoubted potential but is very tired (you certainly notice this when you walk in and go to reception). There has very obviously been water damage in numerous parts of the hotel and in the bedrooms as you can see the untreated water marks on the ceilings. The breakfast could also do with being expanded as the choices are very limited.

For a period of time now, my family and I have been frequenting this hotel due to our home undergoing renovations. During this time, we have developed a close relationship with Srinivas (manager) and the hotel staff. Not only have they provided exceptional service as guests, but they have also made us feel like family. Sirivis has proven to be one of the most outstanding managers in his role, and I'm a service manager myself. We noticed that he had been absent for a couple of weeks, and it made us worried. The atmosphere felt off and different with replacement staff, particularly a female who was abrupt and constantly sarcastic, despite knowing that we were regulars. We paid for classic rooms, but they gave us economy rooms instead. I mean its fair to praise one time, when we made a booking, the systems were down and the staff couldn't view it because it was late. However, she managed to sort it out for us. The current team's nurturing approach is just fantastic, couldn't ask for any better. Upon Srinivas' return from his holiday, there was a palpable sense of relief as the warm atmosphere returned to the building. He informed us of his absence and shared that he had been on vacation. It is worth noting that there are now two new male staff members who have proven to be quite pleasant. However, it is the current staff who truly shine, as they are absolutely fabulous. The manager, staff, and the maintenance. It is observed the hotel is due for a modernization, but it still offers great value.

I've stayed at Mercure a couple of times now when traveling for work, and it suits my needs perfectly. Rooms have always been clean and include everything you'd expect. As someone traveling solo I find the room prices incredibly hard to beat for the quality - the equivalent room at Travelodge is sometimes double Mercure. The staff are very friendly: this stay I was greeted by Hicham who was happy to chat whilst checking me in, and gave perfect directions to my room. I haven't yet been to the restaurant but if you're looking for a nice place to stay in the area I would highly recommend the Mercure.
