I do not know how many times I have been to Buttermere. As Lake District freaks, my family have passed through it on our way up various mountains during the last fifty years, but I have never until now ventured into the Bridge Hotel. I now know just what I have been missing. The place is an absolute gem. My...

We stayed here for just one night and we will certainly return. The welcome was warm, the dinner superb (especially as they offered to convert our B&B booking to half board, thereby giving us a discount on the standard rate for a meal). The staff were efficient and friendly (Attilla and Leesa - top marks!). Breakfast (especially the Cumbrian sausage!)...

We have just returned from a week's stay at one of the hotel's self-catering apartments (the 2-bed dog friendly one). The apartment was excellent: very well equipped and comfortable with great underfloor heating (too hot says my husband). The staff were very friendly to both us and the dogs. We appreciated having the hotel to hand and mixed self-catering with...

Wonderful return visit to this lovely, traditional Lakeland a Hotel. Superb location for walks or just chilling out. No mobile phone reception or TV - just perfect peace! Staff are friendly, food is great (both dinner and breakfast were excellent - quality food, beautifully cooked and well presented). Rooms were freshly decorated and spotlessly clean. Love the comfortable sitting room...

My husband and I stumbled across this hotel many years ago and booked in for the night. It was lovely. Wonderful room. Staff and food. A few years later we booked again this time for longer, it was as excellent as our previous stay. As my husband was due to celebrate a rather special birthday recently, I wanted to surprise...
