This is a very special place to stay. I love castle accommodations and an excitement always builds as I approach the grounds. One must have a car to get here, but thats the joy of exploring this entire Tuscan region--get off the beaten path. Castiglione D'Orcia is a beautiful small town near the area of Bagno Vignoni.

Located just south of San Quirico d' Orcia, this is a great base for exploring the towns south of Sienna. I stayed here in May of 1999 and just returned with my husband for three nights in October. The rooms are large and comfortable and you have views from your room of the beautiful Val d' Orcia countryside. Breakfast each...

Stay if you want peace and quiet deep in the Val d'Orcia. Stay away if you expect all mod cons, fine dining, service at the twitch of an eyebrow, and immediate access to shopping and night life. We stayed for 3 nights B&B. The bedrooms were large and plainly furnished (no aircon, which was not an issue in Sep). Our...

We just spent a lovely two nights at Castello di Ripa d'Orcia. We stayed in the B&B accommodation. The views are fantastic, the rooms clean, spacious and well renovated. The service was also spot on - friendly family style and not overbearing. There is a lovely small pool, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. We also ate at the...

We loved the serenity and peacefulness of this castle. It had stunning views from the top of the hill and excellent breakfasts. They make their own wine which is delicious as is their olive oil. The pool is lovely and the room was superb, with lots of character. Excellent value!

Yes the castle is off the beaten track, but we knew that upon booking. It is a small holding with original 700 year old buildings. There are mod cons such as wifi, toilet, bidet, hot & cold running water, heating, 2 burner gas stove, small fridge & comfy beds.... Only negative was the tiny shower.... Hubby is 6'4" (195cm) so...

Had one of the best holidays ever at this beautiful castle with husband and 18 year old daughter. The setting is idyllic, especially the pool area which we had to ourselves most of the time. We had apartment 6 in the Guard's House which was everything you would expect of rooms in a castle; not spoilt by modernisation but the...

NOTE: This "when did you travel?" function won't let me put in correct date -- May 2006 About six years ago, my parents, sister and I went to Italy. I had recently graduated with an Art History degree and having always longed for an Italian excursion, never-mind that my family is BIG on traveling, it seemed like a perfect choice....

It is regrettable that some people have posted comments which may lead potential visitors to skip the wonderful experiences possible at Castello di Ripa d'Orcia. My husband, teenage daughter, and I stayed for 7 nights in a self-catering apartment here. Ripa d'Orcia is both a lovely place to stay and a working venture with products including extra virgin olive oil,...

The owner/operator is as unfriendly as they come. Don't expect luxury accommodation or hospitality. The rooms do not have air conditioning, nor a refrigerator. There is a list of rules posted in the washroom. A reminder to pay and what you owe is posted on your door on the eve of your departure. The view from the rooms is lovely...

DREAMS AND REALITY. The dream of a luxury accommodation, which nobody here never promised or sold, is the main cause of this fake and incorrect review. (Just to give an example we believe that these two gentlemen can’t read their language properly given that the notes, those they are referring to, contain totally different information from what they have written...
