This hotel is designed to give a cozy, rustic feel. The Tripadvisor photos were very appealing and the hotel is much like it is presented. However, it was 'off season' and the owners informed us that we should arrive before 7:30 pm and that breakfast would not be before 9:00. Our room was quaint and reminded me of my Grandmother's...

Long story short - if you're ok with bedbugs give it a go. Otherwise, steer clear. I have never given a 1-star review to a hotel. I work in the business and know the ins and outs of hospitality. An impromptu trip required us to book less than 24 hours in advance and we were happy to find a charming...

My first visit was in 2012. Coming to this willage, you are set back 1000 years. What is now Hotel Costes was the most fantastic stay we have ever had. I sencerely hope they have not changed it too much now. The garden a secret oase, and the hotel full of antiks. It has nice entertainment, but is quiet at...

We have been for lunch a few times while touring the area. Its high in the mountains in a small hamlet, so of course it does not have a big city menu or speed of service. But it does have good simple rustic food, nicely presented, on a pleasant outdoor terrace in sunny weather, served with some charm, and fair...

The Auberge de Montségur is kaput. The current establishment is the Hôtel Restaurant Costes. I was told it is now under the management of the previous owner. And if it is related to the multi-starred Hôtel Costes in Paris, it has a long way to go! I was a little disappointed on this second trip to the hotel. The old...

I love this place! I give it 6 stars! Heidi and Pierre are the best at making you feel comfortable and satisfied. I offered to marry the cook if she would cook like that for me but she just laughed and went back to sauté-ing! The entire establishment, restaurant, hotel and village is absolutely lovely. Be forewarned if you're looking...

I serendipitously discovered this village and this inn recently and am only sorry I wasn't able to stay longer. What a gem of a place! The location, the rooms, the ambiance, the service, the town are all perfect. True there is no parking but that is because Montsegur is a pedestrian access town only. It is a tiny village which...

Stayed here for 3 nights as a part of the Cathar Way walking tour. One day was a rest day, the other day was to walk to the local peak, Pic de Bartholomy, which was a wonderful view point to see the whole range of the Pyrenees. Our hosts were very helpful and spoke several languages - they even booked...

The Hotel is situated in a construction that dates back to 1600's. The dining room is fitted out to give you a sense of the earlier times. Rooms adequate and price is right. Found car park at back with stair access, made access easier.

I cannot begin to describe how much I enjoyed this little getaway in the little town of Montsegur. They had recently upgraded the place and the two owners worked their little hands off in making us feel welcome. From carrying our bags up the narrow flights of stairs to making us cups and cups of steaming hot chocolate. Pierre is...
