Hotelroom was clean, average. Staff was polite and friendly. We would have preferred a normal private dinner at the table but it was not available. Only choice was a communal dinner with other guests in a smoke infested environment of the restaurant Gammen. Smoke is...More

We stayed one night here and enjoyed it. The hotel is situated just beside the Sápmi Park. The hotel structure and interior are nicely adapted to the environment and the local culture. The use of wooden materials is beautiful and stylish. Our room – in...More
Absolutely worldclass hotel, located in a wood area, where it is quite and far away from big traffic routes. Really nice facilities, good food in the under-earth restaurant just outside the hotel. Helpful people. Prima service and a really good breakfast buffet.
We have stayed at Scandic Karasjok a number of times and are definitely planning to go there again. The hotel is located in a peaceful area with picturesque natural surroundings. The hotel is super cosy and it's interior is made with traces of traditional Sami...More

Thank you for your question.
Winter is the season when you can experience the Northern lights, and North Norway is probably the most beautiful place to do so... About Karasjok- yes, you can take a Northern lights safari/hunting tour from the local provider, however, Karasjok is the coldest place in Norway, and if you need to spend much time hunting for Aurora, extremely low temperature could ruin your experience. I would recommend Alta, which is near & bigger costal town, with a milder temperatures (because of the sea), and more providers to choose the package from. They almost all provide additional clothing for their guests in the winter period. Karasjok is THE place for experiencing Sami culture, reindeers & good food. But for Northern lights hunt, I would rather recommend Alta. Hope this helps 😊
