Noku is a 5 star hotel... what a joke! First night we landed in Male, Noku doesn't have they own bus or lounge like the rest 5 star hotels, we waited 3 hours in a common longe which was very busy and crowded. In the end we reached the island, where we were met by the baggage handlers with no drinks or greetings what so ever. We went to eat and after we checked in. There was no one at the reception, we waited 20 min until someone arrived... Being my wife's birthday, we ordered a romantic dinner on the beach. The food was of medium quality however there were only two candles at the table and you couldn't see anything. Actually, the one thing we saw was the bill... 608 euro for a menu of seafood and a bottle of Moet. We live in Monaco, we never saw these prices anywhere except the 3 star michelin restaurants, where the champagne is cold, unlike at Noku, where the champagne is warm and the food is cold... We then came in the hotel room, where on the bed it was written happy birthday for my wife, however they wrote another name on the bed, not of my wife....We went to sleep because we were tired of the journey, but at 23.45 we were awakened by the staff of the restaurant with the birthday cake, sorry for the delay. That's Noku for you, very little staff and little experience. Never will you see someone where they are supposed to be. We didn't know who was the manager, he didn't show up in 7 days. The breakfast was by far the worst I have seen, coming to the Maldives 1-2 times a year in the past 10 years.... The dinner at the main restaurant likewise, a joke. The only acceptable place was the bar and the poolside restaurant. A single person serves the bar and the restaurant alone with the chef, which they do a good job. They were the only professional people on the whole island. The positives are that the island in beautiful, with a large beach and grassy areas, the vilas were clean, good diving at Jambe. However, the rest is a clear sign of cost cutting to the bones which is against the comfort of the guests. My opinion... Noku is a 3 start resort at best.

Breakfast: 8/10 quiet the same everyday. Lunch: 8/10 nothing special. Dinner: 9/10 overall very good. Bars: 6/10 ok making cocktails. * i have informed the hotel by email prior to my arrival that it will be my wife’s birthday in our 3rd day of stay. They had prepared a flower basket in the dinner area and at the end a cake with candle. When we got back to the room a bed decoration with happy birthday was waiting for us. Such a pleasant stay.

Family of 4, children aged 8 & 9. Seaplane took around 45 mins with full VIP service courtesy of the Noku staff at the airport who guide you through the process and made it feel like a breeze after a long flight. Greeted by staff on landing who take your luggage and offer refreshments, check in starts at 2pm but by the time you do your lateral flow test and explore the island this was no issue for us. We opted for the water villa with sunset view and private pool, I could not recommend this room highly enough. Bed was huge, think it was an emperor size, kids had one fold out bed and a bed on the window cill which wasn't ideal due to the firmness of it but this was rectified on Day 2 by the cleaning staff. Bathroom was huge with 2 showers (one outdoor) and access to the balcony/pool area. Views in the evening of the sunset were simply stunning and the pool/easy access to the ocean made spending the extra money very much worth it. Free soft drinks, tea and coffee was a nice touch. Breakfast was very good, eggs cooked to order as standard but the buffet was changed daily which is a very good idea as it can get a bit same same otherwise. Lunch and dinner menu were the same in the 2 restaurants which was fine as the selection was vast. Chicken curry from the main restaurant and lobster stir fry Asian restaurant were the highlights for us but the kids also adored the thin crust pizzas. Quite expensive and prices are then subject to ~20% tax on top but you are in the Maldives so as expected really. The bar offers snacks throughout the day with the chicken wings and calamari being our top picks. Snorkelling was amazing, saw thousands of tropical fish, a few sharks, turtles. Noku offer free snorkelling gear for the duration of your stay which was also a nice touch. Overall this is a stunning resort and everything I expected plus more, the only slight disappointment was the attentiveness of some of the staff, not all but just a few.

The staff was fantastic Mr. Basil, Mr. Assad all the servers Deepak, Ashil all went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely experience. They accommodated all of my toddlers meal requests and ensured she had a lovely time. The beach villa was beautifully decorated and the resort was very clean.
